Here it is ladies and gentlemen, the application that will change your life. With this application you will no longer need other third party apps, or even other IPS products to handle a media system, this turns the forum application already default with your IPB purchase into a media system, to display latest videos on board index and to go through pages and pages of previous videos, so what are you waiting for? want to know more, keep reading:

Features:

• follows forums permissions
• group based submissions allowance
• select what forums to grab videos from
• creates new video from topic or reply or both (enable or disable in the settings)
• grabs title, description, and thumbnail directly from service of the media file (will resize thumbnail using GD library so that is a must, and saves resized image)
• supports all default IPB media tags (also supports the blip.tv media tag found in the market, as I myself like blip).
• easy modal window pop up to view video, size of modal setting in acp settings
• easy link to the discussion forum for video
• displays X amount of latest video submissions on board index (amount can be changed in settings).
• display more videos (displays X amount of videos based on per page setting in acp, also pagination to go back further)
• delete topic or post, deletes video as well (so it no longer displays on board index or more videos).
• moves topic or post? will move video discussion url to match.
• made a new topic forgot video? don't worry, will also grab videos from an edit if the forum and user group are allowed
• decide to remove video from a topic or post? still no worries, will remove video as well.
• this system will continue to work as intended, with any text above or below the video, it only seeks out the media links in the topic/post data
• supports own3d.tv media tags, you can find them in the market, http://community.inv...-own3dtv-video/ (please update to the latest version as somethings have change in it). own3d.tv has shut down.
• now supports twitch.tv media tags, can be found in zip file.

If you have the previous hook version installed, DO NOT UNINSTALL it, this application can import its data, and then remove the unneeded files for it.

Any additional mediatags that are not listed here, or not default with IPB, will not be supported in the official release, if you need a specific mediatag that is not listed or supported by IPB default, then you will need to contact me for it to be added and will require an additional fee. I feel I have Included the majority of the most popular video host out there to be included in this system. If there is a popular demand for a specific tag, I include it in the main release.

sorry no it can not be used with content, tbh wouldn't even know where to begin with content.

I've grabbed marcher's own3d.tv mediaTags, included them, then i've created 2 of my own for use with direct url copy paste (where his only seem to support if they grab the link from the share), and that is included as well, you will need to grab marcher's for complete coverage. the ability for own3dtv, will be included in 1.0.4

as for it being an "improvement", i can not say. I like my system, and imho found it better than any of the others :) (but i'm bias).

I have gone ahead and bought your new add-on but I have an issue with it. It seems that if the description on a YouTube video has links to other media it pulls this too and makes the hook look terrible.

I have added just one video to test it and this is what was shown on the forum index:



I have obviously changed the setting to show 0 as we can't have it like this. Is there a way to stop it displaying media linked in the description and if not can you advise how we can get it stop doing this as it is currently not usable as it is.

I'll have a fix out early in the morning, thanks for bring this to my attention. (its parsing the own3d urls as media tags). will be stripping those out.

I'll wait until that fix is out before buying this then, but just to check real quick, can this connect automatically with a YouTube channel? If it can't it's not a dealbreaker because I currently can't get <i>any<i> sidebar hook to work with YouTube videos.

But still, I'm a bit confused on exactly what this does. It will grab embedded videos in posted in the forum and then put them in a sidebar? So technically, I could embed videos in a hidden admin forum and have it grab them from there? And since I suspect you can connect it directly to a YouTube channel, you can manually type in links somewhere instead of posting them on a hidden forum? (if you don't want to make random posts just to make videos appear in the sidebar).

It sounds like you have an exciting app, but you gave a lot of info and it's hard for me to picture exactly what this does.

yeah, i think it respects forum permissions though so you might have to be clever on how you set up the permissions for the hidden forum.

Would suggest making a hidden forum, create an xml feed from your youtube channel, get IPB to post new topics into a hidden forum from the xml feed (does IPB still do that? It did a few years ago...), and get this system to scrape videos from the hidden forum.

update out. sorry for the many hours later than i had originally said, when i got up this morning work was a bit crazy and 2 jobs came in for some custom work for a price i couldn't pass up. then my IDE froze on (even tho i had saved) the changes i had made some how got fubar'd and i had to go back to a previous version to start again. hope this fixes the current problems.

fixes: the bug that azoun was having with the media tags being parsed in the description, they should now parse as just regular old link url's, added

with that out of the way, the more i think about this, the more I wish i had made this into a application than a hook, as the more i start to gather new feature ideas, the more it would make sense that this would become an app eventually. when that does, maybe to prevent confusion, i will re-release this under another name Do not worry, any one who buys this, will be migrated over to the application.

If I create a post and just enter a media link then when I push 'Preview Post' it loads the default index for the site and doesn't preview the post. If I then remove the media and enter text it does the same however, if I enter text and preview post it works just fine.

Can you address this for me please or explain what is wrong?

Hello,

Unfortunately this issue appears to be caused by one of your 3rd-party hooks. With all hooks disabled, the post preview works correctly when just using a media or sharemedia link.

I recommend disabling each of your 3rd-party hooks one-by-one until you find the one causing the issue and then contact the author for an update.

I love the hook, however, the preview boxes which lead to the pop-up of an embedded video show up as broken icons:



Confirmed on Chrome, IE, and Firefox.


Note, I've since uploaded the new update, although I'm not sure if I did that right since nothing appears to be changed on my end (they're still broken). I just took the contents of the upload folder and uploaded them to my root, overriding the conflicts. My ACP didn't prompt me for any upgrades.

found the problem, will have it fixed in 1.0.5 (caught the fast reply one in development when you click on more reply options), rarely click preview so didn't if cross my mind to check it out :) but it was identical to the problem for fast reply, the solution was was the same :) gotta love IPB and its uniformity for bugs :).

for the broken images, you will need to copy the folder "forum_media" from the zip file, located in "Upload/public/style_images/master/" to your skins folder that can be found /public/style_images/<themes name>.

as for upgrading a hook , just follow the same directions for installing a hook. (you will not need to uninstall the hook first, as the install process will determine if it is a new or upgade for a hook)

I'll look into portal, as i don't use it myself, i will install it on my dev.

i'll check my ipstext calls to make sure i have it checking to see if the section has media tag posting ability, i assumed ipstext would do this automatical, thanks for bringing this up.

I'd totally buy this if you add Twitch. Own3D.tv is nice but many are switching to Twitch these days.

Not to mention that we also have a free add-on that adds Twitch bbcode on IPS Marketplace, I think it's quick and easy to implement then.
