Ever since the upgrade to 3.3.4, it seems like the custom username markup has vanished, even on the default style.

Was the feature removed altogether? It's still present in the admin cp, and it's rather confusing.

I don't know why, but IPS has never added global styling (well at least the full amount of time I've been a customer) to IPB for the usenames. In some areas they are styled and others they are not. There are hooks that add the styling, but really this should be built in.

It was never the way you're describing it, not without installing a mod anyway.
