Ibragim Pupkevich
File Name: (DDK33) Instant Notifications File Submitter: Ibragim Pupkevich File Submitted: 18 Jul 2012 File Category: Utilities One more function, which should be embedded by default, but isn't. This hook will check every X seconds (10 by default) for new unread PM + Notifications (if any) and update indicators. It will also put count into the title of all pages like Twitter or Facebook. Lets stay on trends This will bring more interaction to your community.Note: Hook has been renamed to (DDK33) Instant Notifications starting from v2.0.0.Tips & Tricks: Don't forget to configure your boards notification defaults - [AdminCP -> Members -> Notification Defaults]. This will affect new coming members to receive more notifications just from the beginning. By default many push notifications are disabled in IPB, unfortunatelly. Buskopan
Спасибо. Оно обновляется само как на ФБ, или требует обновления страницы вручную ?

Stone Age mode supported as well (= no AJAX mode).
changeindia
so, it will be like, even if we don't refresh a page and we get a new PM, that notification will get updated, right ?

changeindia
great. Also had a doubt, suppose if the ( Ajax Push Update ) is set to example 120 seconds, and i got a PM at 10 seconds, so it won't show, but what if i refresh the page ? Will it show, or i will have to wait for 120 seconds to show the update ? Also was wondering, will it create lot of load on server if we put it to 10 seconds and their are lot of members, so for every 10 seconds it will check via AJAX .! It will show new msg soon after you will refresh the page in that case. Regarding server load - it's equals to pressing "Edit post" every X seconds :)
Samourai
Hello ! Really a great mod, thanks. BTW, just wondering : does this app use much more ressources ? :) Thanks.
Ibragim Pupkevich
Hello ! Really a great mod, thanks. BTW, just wondering : does this app use much more ressources ? Thanks. No, it's just about simple ajax query, no modules to be loaded, just reading memberData array variables.

Samourai
No, it's just about simple ajax query, no modules to be loaded, just reading memberData array variables.Hello, Though you said it wasn't a problem, this created an overload of my servers, wich unfortunately got blocked by my hosting company. Hopefully, the problem was resolved when I disabled your hook. But this is just to say than I don't advise this mod, unless you obviously have powerful dedicated servers or anything similar. Best regards, Atsuki.
Ibragim Pupkevich
I guess you are talking about Board Index Face hook. There was a fix I've published in hook details (SQL query to be run). Just follow support topics next time.
Samourai
Well, no, I'm talking about this mod, actually... :/ Because when having many members online, an ajax refresh every 10 seconds, for every tab of each member uses much resources.
Ibragim Pupkevich
Mmm... you should get same effect when activating Shoutbox for example, right? :) So, I would suggest to upgrade your server in that case))
Ibragim Pupkevich
Because if your server is going down due to 10 sec tick of online members - it's so sad :D
Volstate
Because if your server is going down due to 10 sec tick of online members - it's so sad :D I agree. I use shared hosting and I am encountering no problems. If you need a great host that's very fast and low cost feel free to message me and I'll refer you to mine. You'll be very pleased...:) This hook works well...
