Wordpress Integration (API in general)

Recommended Posts

Hi all,
I'm looking for integrating a wordpress blog with a IP.Board forum.

What I need to do is to allow the user to login / register / logout / view notifications and PMs from the blog (like in the IPBoard nav bar) / create a new forum post when a blog article is added / view forum comments of this post on the blog page and add them via a form.

What I'm asking is what's the best place to start from.

  • I've seen the XML-RPC api, but they don't allow login / logout, and I'm quite insecure of how they work when displaying forum topics (how does it output BBCode?), and basically the documentantions is non-existant.
  • Another option I've noticed is the open-source ipbwi api, which allow to do a lot of things, but not being developed by IPServices, updates for the future version of IPBoard - and support - are not guaranteed. The same guy who developed this api offers a paid solution which basically does what I intend to do execpt the comment part which is directly integrated in the Wordpress comment system: it's too pricey and I feel that using the open-source api I can make something better suited for my needs.

I don't know other options, maybe there's something much better for what I want to do, that's why I'm asking.

Thanks in advance.

The readily-available options include

(The last 2 utilize XML-RPC integration, however they do support login and logout, so I'm not sure if they're the same as you were referring to)
