HelloWorld Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Hi everybody, I'd like to move to a dedicated platform, given that the mutualized / shared server my board is on cannot host us any longer, because of a too important traffic. There are several offers I looked up to, but I do not really know whether these servers will be enough to fit to my board. That is why I came here, hoping that maybe some of you could help me with that! Here are some of the main statistics of my board : - 18k members - 973k posts - Max 1k members online / 15 minutes (usually 200-600) And here are the offers that I'm interested in (these pages show the main informations about each server) : - Deewiojfsfx SC : http://www.online.net/serveur-dedie/offre-deewiojfsfx-sc.xhtml - Deewiojfsfx Classic (quite not as cheap!) : http://www.online.net/serveur-dedie/offre-deewiojfsfx-classic.xhtml - Ikoula GreenFish : http://express.ikoula.com/serveur-dedie - Kimsufi 2G : http://www.kimsufi.com/fr/ Which servers do you think could be adequate for my use? Many thanks to all of you! Please let me know if you need more informations.
AlexJ Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I wouldn't suggest kimsufi to say the least because their support is horrible. I believe 3rd party hosting service talk is not allowed here.
Grumpy Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 If your traffic is "too important", you shouldn't even consider cheap dedis. All the ones you listed are crap, only sufficient to host a hobby project. Additionally, they're unmanaged, I'm assuming you don't know how to setup a proper web server from scratch. So, you'll be stuck with a useless box that's going to get hacked in 1 day of being online... Go look for a managed vps... at a site like webhostingtalk.com or something... If I have offended you and you know how to manage a server, get an unmanaged vps. Your budget does NOT allow a dedi.
Rhett Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 As mentioned if you have 1000 users online in 15 minutes, your going to need a real dedicated server, I would skip right over a vps as well, as most are not up to that task. As grumpy mentioned however hosting sites would be better suited for this as we don't allow hosting discussions on other host since it's a conflict as we offer hosting solutions as well. Thank you
