Removing Status Updates from view for guests

Hey there! I'm still new to IPB, and I had a question. Is there anyway I can remove the status updates hook from view for guests, yet have registered members still be able to view and use it?

What is really needed is a mod where individual members can choose to see updates or not. Some members find status updates annoying and others love them. As an admin I personally don't care but would love members to make their own choices.
