Couple questions about the Custom Fields;
Is it possible with the dropdown function to allow more than one choice?
Could you explain the Field Formatting? Maybe an example.

Thanks, might have more as I delve into this deeper. It is an extremely well designed mod. I want to get the most out of it.

The dropdowns at this point only allow for a single choice. The field formatting you typically don't need to mess with, but one time it could be useful is when you're using a custom field for something like an image to display. The field could let you set the URL to that image, and then the field formatting would be something like this:

{key}: <img src="{value}" alt="" />

Darn, I wish the condition could hide the custom css's from everywhere but the article, I guess it doesn't work with linking css's.

Time to try another method.

I've been trying to make a little background changer specifically for the article view but don't want it to show anywhere else.

I made a little edit to the article area where I allow readers to click several buttons to change to an alternate css property specifically the body tag. But it changes the entire tutorial app including the forum listing. I only want it to effect the article view area.

I thought using html logic would hide these css but it doesn't.

In viewArticle

<if test="$this->request['aid']">

    <link rel="alternate stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" title="style1" href="{$this->settings['public_dir']}style_css/{$this->registry->output->skin['_csscacheid']}/style1.css" />

    <link rel="alternate stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" title="style2" href="{$this->settings['public_dir']}style_css/{$this->registry->output->skin['_csscacheid']}/style2.css" />

    <link rel="alternate stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" title="style3" href="{$this->settings['public_dir']}style_css/{$this->registry->output->skin['_csscacheid']}/style3.css" />

    <link rel="alternate stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" title="style4" href="{$this->settings['public_dir']}style_css/{$this->registry->output->skin['_csscacheid']}/style4.css" />

    <link rel="alternate stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" title="style5" href="{$this->settings['public_dir']}style_css/{$this->registry->output->skin['_csscacheid']}/style5.css" />

    <link rel="alternate stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" title="style6" href="{$this->settings['public_dir']}style_css/{$this->registry->output->skin['_csscacheid']}/style6.css" />

    <script src="{style_images_url}/images/ajax_reload.js" type="text/javascript" ></script>

</if>

So if I had body { background-color: black }, it'll show up everywhere in tutorial when I only what that to apply to article view.

If you're putting it in the viewArticle template, that should work without needing the if statement, that template only is used when actually viewing an article. Are you sure this script you're using isn't doing something like loading up this CSS using something they set in a cookie or something? There shouldn't be any reason for that to work anywhere but where you added that code, as far as I know.

Yeah, it's a cookie javascript. Hmmm... That's strange.

I think it'll take a little more modding but I might use the if statement on the <body> itself. I can't get it to limit its background changing to only the article view.

Thanks for the help!

Hello,

I just loaded Tutorials v1.2.2 on IP.Board v3.1.4. Currently I do not see the attachment option when creating/editing tutorials. I've look in settings but have been unable to find how to enable/disable attachments.

Is there a setting which needs to be enabled to allow the upload of attachments?
If yes, where is it located?

Thanks for the assist,

On the Overview page for the application, go to the Manage User Groups box in the lower right and edit each group. You can set their uploading permissions there.

Below is a screen shot of what is seen when looking the group configuration.

Should I see an option to enable upload permissions on the IP.Tutorials tab or are the permissions inherited from the Global tab?

Thanks,

That's the tab for IP.Tracker. Make sure you have uploaded all of the files for this application, you're missing at least the /extensions/admin/group_form.php file.

Sorry for posting the screenshot of IP.Tracker. I should know better but apparently my brain isn't functioning this morning. I'll check on the files I uploaded.

Thanks,

The file /extensions/admin/group_form.php did not upload properly. I uploaded the file again which has resolved the issue.

Thank you Michael for your quick & efficient assistance. I apologize for my headspace & timing when posting a screenshot of IP.Tracker. :)

Is there a way I can parse the Visit Support Topic link at the end of the article? Right above the Category Jump drop down.

You could try placing this where you want it to display:

{parse template="supportTopicButton" group="tutorials_display" params="$article"}

I'm not sure it would look right, though, since the section at the top is where it sets up that 'button' look.

Hi there,

Is there any way to promote a tutorial to article, just so it shows up in ip content.

Thanks

Steph40 :D

No built-in way, no, this app typically isn't used in conjunction with IP.Content's articles system, since they both do similar things.

Oh Michael another question, where is the setting that allows me to set how the [Like] button works?

Oh also, could you point me to the language file where I can change the language string "Tutorials"?

Can you elaborate? None of the IPS apps that uses the Like system has any configuration to it, and neither does this app. It's always on, and usable by any members, so that they can like any categories or articles.

Like any language string in IP.Board, just go to the language you want to modify and search for the specific word you want to change, and it will point you to the item to modify.

Ah, I remember that we were talking about how it could be configured to email/notify the member on updates?
