Can you explain this more. I want to make sure this plugin will solve the problem I am having with IPB RSS imports. The formatting looks bad since I upgraded to 3.4. I want each import to be a new topic and I would like it to display nicely without a bunch of code. Are you saying that I should use IPB RSS import so that each import is a new topic and then also use your plugin and that somehow your plugin and the RSS Import communicate so that now I can import ATOM feeds into the IPB RSS import?

While it does enhance the IPB RSS Library to parse ATOM... It's not going to fix that, my code in regards to this does not reach that far(formatting the data and posting it is done by IPB itself in said case).

I could swear this is a bug that has been reported and marked as fixed however... which 3.4.x?

IPB 3.4.1

here is a sample of an RSS import into a new topic in IPB since I upgraded to 3.4.1. I am just wanting to import stuff so it doesn't show all that code and it looks decent.

Hi -

I don't want the rss 'spreadsheet' to be visible to anyone except the super admin.

In the description, it says:

Control Who May See Feeds In This Application At a Granular Level Via Permissions Masks By Feed "Group".

I can't find anything like that in the ACP. Where am I stumbling?

Thanks,

Brian

I have not yet bought this app.

I'm currently in the process of converting RSS from 15 Blogs into posts. I will later on make a portal and then I will use this app to convert directly to a new Ip content portal.

My question: I have a problem converting some RSS fro blogs to posts - and the problem is excact same as described in http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/371194-help-importing-an-rss-feed/

If I buy this app - do you think it will fix that problem for me also?

The actual issue with the feed in that topic is the lack of any content, the feed is no more than titles, links, and date, if your feed has content, and is RSS or ATOM in format, this application will facilitate imports.

Nothing I can do from this application would resolve the issue with that specific feed regarding imports, that there is no content for the post/record/tutorial to use.

That said, the provided Content XML feed block source will pull and display said data.

I understand that. I my case all the feeds seems ok - but still they are reporting a problem and nothing is added. An example from my site http://gustavskaar.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default

Have tried any combination of code - like adding "?alt=rss" - as described in http://support.google.com/blogger/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=97933

Hello, I can confirm that without the hook accompanying this application, IPB gives me this message:

IP.Board Message
Could not open http://gustavskaar.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default to locate channels. This may be a temporary issue. Please confirm the URL is correct.

I can also confirm that it will successfully import with this application installed, and the 'RSS: classRss ATOM Parser enhancements' hook accompanying the application enabled.

It would appear that is indeed an ATOM feed, and IPB native is not liking it, so yes, this application would resolve your issue.

I'm working on a portal page for my forum and have a question. Right now I'm using the buildt in RSS import and import into a "RSS forum" - http://www.fjellforum.no/forum/73-friluftsaktuelt-eksternt/ This forum is not intended for discussion - just for connecting my forum to other even smaller websites and it works out very well.

In the future - I would like to have theese RSS imports into the Content portal page - so that when clicking on "read more" on the portalpage - they are redirected to the bloggers page - not to the forum it selve.

How do I set up this App to achieve that? Is it possible?

You can import them as content database records.

ACP -> RSS Management -> RSS Import Management -> Database Imports.

Alternatively, one could just pull them for display directly with the provided feed block.

Hi,

Running a test on 3.4.3 - getting an internal server error on the mobile skin. The main default skin is fine.

[Mon Mar 04 12:00:08 2013] [error] [client x.x.x.x] PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function mobileAppLink() on a non-object in /homex/public_html/hooks/rssMobileLink_2a1479bfde8883fb56a34e643a33d66a.php on line 19, referer: http://www.x.co.uk/index

Have disabled app for time being.

BTW - you have your supported version as just 3.3.x - not sure if that means that 3.4.x is not supported - if so my apologies and please ignore the above.

Hi,

I am look for a way to open RSS Feeds in a new window. Is there away to do this with RSS Management Application? You have a lot of cool features but I am hoping to find something that also opens feeds in a new window.

Note: If not this does not mean, I will not purchase you application. It does mean I certainly need to consider who will be able to read RSS Feeds. I mean I do not want to drive guess to a different website.

that shouldn't occur.... my default module and sections are properly coded, and there is indeed an ACP to this application.... mind providing me access via pm to look into this?.

Am I interpreting the statement below correctly? I expected the full article to open in the forum.

"In-Site viewing Experience: While still available with a further click, the Viewing of a feed is no longer directly controlled by browser experience. Show Feed Results in the Skin of your Forums, including the Mobile skin".

One of the features I did not like about using RSS Feeds is, when I click on "View the full article" the article did not open in a new page. I interpreted from the above statement the article would open in the forum. There are a couple of rss feeds, which I use to update my board. If I can make these open in the forum that would greatly enhance my updating process.

as far as I can tell, the application is disabled or not installed on your site still.... the app url 404's(server 404, not IPB) and the RSS Menu remains in full glory in the footer.... follow up on the PM, you still need 1-on-1 help with whatever has gone astray in install for you.... this time just give me FTP(in PM) and I'll just install it properly as it appears your FTP client hates you or something.

I am really very confused now Ricw.

http://screencast.com/t/1HOSebUBOdN

my hooks were disabled, this is why the mammoth RSS menu in the footer was still present.

that said......

is not a valid RSS/ATOM URL... or even a URL.... seems i need to add further checks to the output management section.

input the url of the intended feed, and it will become clear..
