I have a strange problem, my RSS feed keeps importing the same feeds. This means every hour or so I have to go and delete the duplicate posts. Shouldn't the feed be able to recognize duplicates?

It might just be a bad feed (I've only tried this one so far). I saw something about it being integrated with 10 others. I'm just asking before I switch to others, because content-wise, it's exactly what I want.

This is what I was using: http://www.philosoph....libsyn.com/rss

I've deleted 85 of them now because it kept looping through the same 10. I kept changing my settings though (e.g. toggling with the refresh timer) and maybe that's why it was starting over. I'll edit in an update in the morning. (I'm sure it's something I'm doing and that there's nothing wrong with the app.)

I let it run overnight and no more duplicates. This tells me that the duplicates were only a result of toggling with my settings.

no, there was a coding error.

Update: I thought it was ok but since I've been up it spit out 30 more duplicates (I have it set to refresh the feed every 30 minutes.)

Did you upgrade? I have not had duplicates popping up while I slept in any area.... Will double-check the code again.

I didn't notice the upgrade before because I assumed no one was that fast.

I installed it 2 hours ago exactly (with a 30 minute refresh timer), and it hasn't given me any duplicates. Sorry for not responding early, I just wanted to gather a decent time sample before reporting back.

I'm fairly sure that the default RSS management on IP.Board has a similar duplicate issue, so I feel like I got my money's worth knowing this duplicate issue isn't a problem. I'm just using it for imports, and don't really understand the other features yet, but thanks for the excellent work and prompt upgrade.

"

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/feed/news

would be the link.... and yes, this application will take said ATOM input, however I must note it does not make a new topic for every entry, but rather a new post in the designated topic for each entry. "

I need this application to make for very news, new topic. Does is possible to change?

Version 1.0.8 Released.
Notable Changes:
  • Extension of classRss via hook, directly allowing *stock* RSS imports to parse ATOM feeds.
  • Removal of duplicative code to parse ATOM separately(XML Content Feed Block untouched as it *is* an advanced xml parser).

This affects every single usage of classRss loaded via IPSLib::loadLibrary, which includes Stock Forum Imports and the Stock Content RSS Feed Block as a note.

Hi Marcher, I was thinking whether it would be difficult to enable an RSS feed per user. I would love it as I could create an RSS channel for our editorial account, which I would then import to our Facebook fan page. I haven't come across to any similar solution yet. We are posting to multiple forums of our site and at present we are unable to filter which topics should be posted on our FB fan page, this would solve/automate it. Is there any chance how this could be integrated into your module?

How would that work perchance? as in, what should be in the feed?

In the feed should be topics of a particular member (instead of a particular member). There could be a RSS icon on each profile's page, from where a member could get the link to his rss channel.

Each of our editors would then have their own rss channel collecting their topics across the board, which we would import to our facebook page knowing they are only the quality topics (as they are from our editors).

Apart of the above there is one thing i wanted to ask, after installing your rss module, when I click on a particular link in the module, I get a link to a page looking e.g. like this:

http://www.cechoslovaci.com/syndication/154-litva/

This however is not a valid rss channel link, am I right? How do I get to the actual rss channel link hidden behind this link so that I can send it to our facebook page (we are using the dlvr.it service)

Your url is shown via the %7Boption%7D icon and is http://www.cechoslovaci.com/rss/forums/75-diskuse-litva/ however it might not work, see my reply below.....

Hi,

Still getting to grips with the app.

Are the feeds actually altered when imported into the app?

I am using the google api to pull the feeds into ip.content (not ideal & certainly not as neat as your page)

If I use your URL of http://www.nonleague.co.uk/rss/forums/7-non-league-uk-essex-senior-league-forum/ it fails whereas the original url of http://www.nonleague.co.uk/index.php?app=core&module=global&section=rss&type=forums&id=7 works.

I am still at the testing stage with the Google API though.

My concern is that we might have issues if others are importing the feeds into sites.

Thanks.

http://www.nonleague...r-league-forum/ Is not a result generated by this application.
That is the forums RSS, and this app in no way alters the source feed, simply formats it for display/imports.
I would suspect the google api, or you is attempting something based dynamically, and it doesn't like the furl.

:D Feel free to quote me on the cost to show the output from your app on the database template of IP.Content :)

Thank you all, so it seems your application generates

http://www.cechoslov...tion/154-litva/

instead of the original

http://www.cechoslov...-diskuse-litva/

. .what is the way for us to figure out the original 'active' rss link we can yous for other applications? Wouldnt it be practical to have some link within the application?

It *does* link to the source: %7Boption%7D this image, icon, is a link to the source feed, says such on hover and as the image alt text.
It also does not affect the rss head links for feed readers.... the 'full' view was added merely to provide an in-browser skinned result as requested often, they were just hover-cards that had no full view and directly linked in many versions ago.
