I have noticed an error regarding the number of total topics, it appears to be doubling.

Nope, that "8 topics" are the total topics of main forum called BUSINESS SERVICES.

That "4 topics" is from subforum Advertising.

This hook, as you asked for, only shows the total topics from subforums itself.

But I have no topics within the Business Services section.

When I created the Business Services section I created it as a category.

Maybe a subforum inside a subforum. My hook doesn't do anything except show total topics in subforums in first level only.
