DustinRyan
File Name: Innovation File Submitter: DustinRyan File Submitted: 02 Oct 2011 File Category: Color Change Skins Supported Versions: IP.Blog 2.6.x, IP.Board 3.4.x, IP.Calendar 3.3.x, IP.Chat 1.4.x, IP.Content 2.3.x, IP.Downloads 2.5.x, IP.Gallery 5.0.x, IP.Nexus 1.5.x The old Innovation 2 &3 skins for IPB 2.2 were very popular a few years ago, and we heard the cry to bring back the skin series for IPB 3.2 with a twist. In the past, everyone needed to purchase a separate skin color variation of this simple, dark skin, based on what color matched their website. It could get pretty costly if you wanted multiple color variations, or one of the 6 color variations offered were not what the consumer needed. So we came up with a solution to the color problem: Offer one skin with a color chooser per user, so that the admin can choose the default color, and if the members wanted to change the colors on their own, they can. The skin is capable of changing to over 16.7 MILLION colors! This gives the board admins a variety of choices for their skin color, in addition to giving each member the ability to change the skin for themselves, individually! Innovation 4 is not the first of its kind, but it certainly provides a high quality experience for consumers on a budget who want great customization options! Supported add-ons: Blogs, Gallery, Downloads, Chat, Calendar, Content, and Nexus.*FREE mobile skin included!*Note: If you wish to purchase this skin for IPB 3.3.4 instead of IPB 3.4, download version 4.2.6 from the "previous versions" box on the right. here to download this file

ragnazorg
Bought it and love'd it. I'm just wondering can I change the header to an image and let the other bars just change their own color and not the header itself cause I want to customize it. Thanks. DustinRyan
Yup! Just upload a new branding_bg.png image to the skin and that will cover the changing background.

drjdredscythe
Hey, love the skin and I think I got it set-up correct, but at last I have a few issues: To aid: http://scythedesigns.com/forums.diabloexpressions.com/ 1.) I think I am having the same issue with the top header. The logo image is not set, just trying out things. Where exactly should I place my "branding_bg.png" file path so I know for sure it's in right spot? 2.) What Size should it be so I don't run into the issue with an expanded top menu bar? 3.) I followed the instructions to try and change the color but can not find the correct file/css. Don't see the "globalTemplate bit" 4.) At the bottom the bar that displays how many users on forums isn't fully colored, any idea. Sorry but this is my first skin install on IP.boards. QUICK Edit: Found where to put hex code, 30 seconds more looking helps... This leads me to believe that some how the base skin is still somehow showing....Note the blue strips on the now red background colors...ideas? So 3 solved, just need 1,2,4, and the issue in this edit.
DustinRyan
1. If you want to change the height of your logo, you'll need to first make your logo image, then measure how tall of an image it is, then change the CSS for #branding to have a new height that matches your new logo's height. If you don't want to change the height of the logo area, simply edit the existing logo.psd file and fill in your own stuff. That will ensure that the logo is the correct height. You will also need to change the top margin for #search if you make your logo height very small like the user above mentioned. I don't know what you mean about placing the path for branding_bg.png. But the CSS for it is already in #branding. The full line of code for the branding_bg.png image is url({style_images_url}/branding_bg.png) repeat-x; 2. The logo size can be anything you want, as mentioned above, you just need to change your #branding CSS height to match the height of your new image and if it's a very small height, remember to change the top margin of #search to something smaller. That's why the primary_nav expands for the above user. The search is set to be lower to match the default height of the branding. Not a smaller height. So he just needs to make the top margin smaller, so the search bar doesn't overlap the primary_nav. 4. Can you show me a screenshot of what you see that isn't skinned? drjdredscythe
Thanks for the response, I can provide one when I get out of work, but to paint a picture for you: The top header and the catergory headers (what changes color when I changed the Hex Code) do infact change to a red, from the defualt light teal. The problem is, if you look at a default IP.Boards, there is a medium blue (apparently image based) color for the top header and catergory headers. Those defualt headers appear to be still on, "showing" over the red color I picked from the template. This is the issue I (not the greatest first time around) stated. Again, will make a clear screenshot and post when I get home in an hour or two.
drjdredscythe
Here is a picture of the forums as they are right now: Left side with the new skin, right side with the default skin. As I said it seems the defualt header images are not "turning off" NVM, got it too work perfectly. Tried re-importing the skin and it worked. Sorry for the hassle....All user end error. Great template! Thanks for help though!
DustinRyan
Glad to hear! I had a feeling it was not an actual skin bug because when I looked at your board it looked like you imported it wrong, or did something with the image directory. Enjoy the skin! drjdredscythe
Hey-o, I put up money and got the IP.Blog AP. after install a few members started to create blogs. For some reason the Blog title is not displaying right. The title is moving up into the menu and not quite sure why. Here is a pic of what I am talking about: -I disabled the Global Forum Message Hook to make sure it wasn't the cause, and it isn't. Also went through some global config, but nothing. Thanks for any help! -It may be something that is happening because it doesn't have the header image (where the Blog Title is, YES there is one that displays on forums, don't know why not on blogs) to prevent the menu, and Blog Title from moving up, just a thought. DustinRyan
What version of IP.Blog are you using? EDIT: I can't seem to duplicate it on my end, but the difference I see is that you have your blog title in the header instead of the website logo, which I can't seem to change on my end. Was it a setting?
andrei.grebenschikov
Why hardcode in 'boardIndexTemplate'? <div class='maintitle clearfix' style=' margin-top: 10px;'>Board Statistics</div> please, change to: <div class='maintitle clearfix' style=' margin-top: 10px;'>{$this->lang->words['board_stats']}</div>
DustinRyan
So that it's easier for people who are not knowledgeable about code can easily change the text in the maintitle if they wish. It's also less to type. If it bothers you, please feel free to change it on your end. I have nothing against it, but it's easier for customers who just want to locate the exact text to change on their own, rather than look for PHP. DustinRyan
Released an update (v4.1.2) to resolve a blog text color problem. It's a very simple update that just incolves changing CSS text from #282828 to a white color. If you don't use IP.Blog, don't worry about getting this update. If you DO use IP.Blog, definitely update.
Prank
I'm not sure if this is a stupidly simple q, but can we change the default colour ? Thanks!
DustinRyan
Yes! There should be instructions for that provided with your download file. It's really easy. Just open globalTemplate HTML and on the very top line of code, change the 6 digit hex code for the color to a new 6 digit hex code that you would prefer to be your default color. Save. Done! Prank
Thanks! (A little delayed, sorry! I got no notification for your reply... ) Also, just quickly, my navigation is a little screwy and I'm not too sure why. It seems that the 'right' floated elements will not go to the right hand border... Screeny attached.
DustinRyan
Did you change the height of the branding area? If you did, you will need to change the top margin of the search bar. It looks like your links are pushed because the search bar is occupying the same area right above it.

Prank
Hi Bitter, I'm having an issue with the text colour on a few posts, they appear dark even though the font colour has not been altered (set to 'automatic') http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/403501-shannons-insurance-snowy-mountains-1000/ Any ideas why this might be happening? Thanks in advance! Christian
DustinRyan
Looks like whoever posted it chose to use the editor to pick a color for the post. Just hit the edit button, and change the font color back to automatic in the editor. It's not a skin bug. Just someone trying to use a specific color in a post :)
Ellion Brek
Buyed and love it, but how can i change the default color of the skin?
DustinRyan
There are instructions with the download. It's the first line of code in the globalTemplate HTML bit. There's a 6 digit hex code. Just change it to the hex code of the color you want and hit save :)
Zeroyon
I just did the automatic update to IPB 3.4.1 and lost my WYSIWYG editor when using this skin. Is there a fix? Or do I need to download an updated version? (ie: pay again?) Thanks and awesome work on this skin.
