There is no easy way at the moment to translate settings for applications as they are stored in a (Gallery for example) /xml/gallery_settings.xml file and are not in the language manager. I could manually edit the xml but this would not be good for support or upgrades.

Are you saying you have used this method to translate the Admin CP Settings page for IP.Gallery? As far as I'm aware, you cannot translate an Admin CP settings page in IP.Board.

Settings are not stored in the XML file - that is simply how they are distributed. They are stored in the database (core_sys_conf_settings table) and thus there is not an easy way to translate them at present.

Here - the decision. Not so simple, but it is better than nothing.
