cmiller
We have this dropdown at the top right of the site when logged it... notifications. Is this not worthless? Why do we need to know of these system notifications? You got a private message, someone friended, you, etc. WHO CARES? Instead, show the actually MESSAGE right there in the dropdown! I feel this is a redundant feature. It's actually funny how easy this is to find while private messages are a pain to find. Every time I (as admin) friend someone, I get a message that they have started a convo with me. No they haven't! Please clean this mess up.... it's borderline ridiculous. :o
Mark
Sounds like you've set your notification preferences to give you a PM about everything.

For the VAST majority of our customer base, they want their users to be able to get notifications when things happen on the board (i.e. when someone friends them, or when they get a new private message). This is why notification preferences are set per-user - so each user can determine if they want to receive notifications, and what for.
Francismori7_2
To add to Brandon's post, MOST IMPORTANTLY when Nexus payments fail, work or when they are shipped.

3DKiwi
Yup disable notifications if you don't like them. That said I do miss the red pm popup that we used to have years ago. This was great for getting a member's attention as they couldn't miss it. 3DKiwi

Sounds like you just wanted something to complain about No, not really. I see no point in having a list of 100 "So and so started a personal conversation with you" messages. That list would be better if it was just a LIST OF THE MESSAGES!

bfarber
Or elect not to receive inline notifications for new PMs. Then you won't have a list of the PM notifications. Your inbox is still accessible, after all.
