Tigratrus
I'm baffled why we need two separate images? Honestly it seems like needless complexity, when I first grabbed a section of an uploaded picture and "Set As Photo" it showed up in the member info in the top right corner. I thought: "Nice!" Now I can't change that image, I've changed both Photo and Avatar and I've still got the same image up in the top right member info, is that block like perma-cached? Not sure if this is an IP.Gallery issue or IP.Board. If the "Photo" and the "Avatar" are separate... Why? It needs to be clearer to the end user IMO. Maxxius
I hope there's gonna be a possibility to make photo obsolete and show avatar instead.
LeadCrow
Just wait for 3.2 ;) Does that mean avatars will be the default picture used everywhere (also in mobile skin) except within user profiles? On an aside, thumbnails for those (like for photos) would be welcome.

No more avatars but they are replaced with photos.
Ikadon
From the blog: Yes, we are "merging" avatars and photos in 3.2 and choosing to use the "Photo" labelling as we feel that more users relate tot his over 'avatar' which is starting to become an anachronism. As for the upgrade process, we haven't fully decided what we're going to do. The current thought is to allow the admin to select which to "keep" during the upgrade process. Ryan H.
When looking at the new blog-entry (*[url=" [/url]*) I do fear it's quite the opposite. No more avatars but they are replaced with photos. It's semantics. They're merging the two systems into one--whether that's actually called "avatars" or "photos" is irrelevant. You [or each user, depending on how they do it] will be able to choose whether it's the existing photos or avatars that get rolled into the new system, so you can go either way. Yes I know, I was just hoping for both, but one used everyhwere (avatars) and the other only on profile-page (photo). Anyways, I'm okay with the change, at least there is one! :)
