broni
Since I couldn't get any explanation from IPS people here: http://community.inv...pic/330204-huh/, I'm reposting. Why are words like "color" and "code" forbidden from search? On IPS forums only.
AndyF
I've just moved your (other) topic from IP.Board support to the customer lounge, as its specific to this site but a general enquiry. I'll also post my thoughts on it too. :)
bfarber
I replied to your other topic. Firstly, it's not on IPS forums only - it's part of IPB's search routine and affects all IP.Board installations. Secondly, it's because if we didn't, search would find all of the posts where these bbcodes are used, but the text is not actually part of the search. It's the same concept as MySQL's built in fulltext stopword list (it won't search for "a", "the", "an", etc. because those words are so common it would skew the search results terribly).[color=#FFFFFF]Text[/color] If we didn't block "color", any post with bbcode like the above would be found. Same with code and other common bbcodes (img, url, etc.).
