Invision Community 5: A video walkthrough creating a custom theme and homepage By Matt Thursday at 04:02 PM
DoctorMcKay Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I'm currently using IceLabz Sitemap, and I was wondering if it would be advisable to switch to IP.SEO. Are there any comparisons? Would switching negatively affect my ranking?
ZioRiP Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 This is an interesting point! However I will remove all the external applications if IPS releases something made by themselves.
optrexnz Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 On the basis that IP.SEO is approved by IPS (released by staff) and both products are limited to forum support I'd be looking to move. Also, the first thing you are asked to do when dropping in a ticket for main applications is to remove any modifications. With IP.SEO you shouldn't need to do this. Maxxius Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Since my licence ran out I cant read that forum. Please tell me does the IP.SEO indexes ALL THE TOPICS (yeah, absolutely all topics. not the latest few thousand topics - all the topics) or not? Icelab does that if I'm correct?
Maxxius Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 renew and you'll find out - lol yeah and you go back to vB :D
optrexnz Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010  touche is there anything here that helps you ? I think I read somewhere the limit was 50,000 but not sure if that was a previous version
Fishfish0001 Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 50,000 is the limit, as google doesn't accept sitemaps with more than that. Dan mentioned adding in an option to slip it amongst other files if you wanted to, in a later version.
tekguru Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Any tips on removing the IceLabs product cleanly?
Maxxius Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 50,000 is the limit, as google doesn't accept sitemaps with more than that. Dan mentioned adding in an option to slip it amongst other files if you wanted to, in a later version. Then what about multiple sitemaps? sitemap1.xml, sitemap2.xml, etc.?
optrexnz Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Then what about multiple sitemaps? sitemap1.xml, sitemap2.xml, etc.? that would be sensible and its how other sitemap generators deal with the issue. Any plans to implement this IPB staff?
phinsup Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I removed icelabz cleanly, just do the uninstall and delete the files you uploaded. icelabz sitemap hasn't been working for me for a while so it was a no brainer switch for me.
Intasar Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I'm currently using IceLabz Sitemap, and I was wondering if it would be advisable to switch to IP.SEO. Are there any comparisons? Would switching negatively affect my ranking? Ranking totally related wiith your page and its link. not sitemaps. Icelabz sitemap is the one of the best sitemap generator for IP.Board, reason they just consider on their one product they nothing have any other to focus. as you asking effect on ranking, so ranking is not related with the sitemap if your site are well indexed in google. but my advise is. you can remove icelabz but do not removed its generated sitemaps until IP.SEO installation and proper configuration and generated sitemaps. Once IPSEO generated your sitemap just check the sitemap to opening file in browser OR any text editor. after it add new sitemap in your google webmaster tools but do not delete old icelabz sitemap until google completely downloaded your IPSEO sitemaps, you can check the sitemaps status through webmaster tools > sitemaps < click the sitemap and you see how many URLS google downloaded. and then compare with your icelabz old sitemap if your feel the downloaded URLS are downloaded as old sitemaps, so now you can delete your old sitemaps files from your hosting and also from webmaster tools
7SiN Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I'm not switching until they allow splitting of the sitemap into smaller chunks. Anytime I try to create larger sitemaps, my server crashes (32gb of ram, 4xquad core processors, ssd hdd's; so it isn't a server problem, just a massive site), plus I have over 2 million posts. Also, is there an ability, like IceLabz, to set priority to various threads, say stickies? Or ones with more the x views/replies? If not, then that definitely need implementing. And anything that the vBSEO team has put into their sitemap because that was a quality product when I used it.
optrexnz Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 i'm back on icelabz as well. Can I ask why you moved back? Your previous page indicated icelabz didn't work for you?
phinsup Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Can I ask why you moved back? Your previous page indicated icelabz didn't work for you? I can't get the IP SEO sitemaps to work at all. The icelabz sitemaps generate, but I've always got some sort of error with google, but at least there are link being generated.
rbiss Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 For what it's worth IP.SEO does not help index my articles. In fact not one of them has ever been indexed by Google. Most everything else indexes almost immediately and to the top of google, but not IP Content related materials.
