Posted December 2, 201014 yr I am asking a lot of questions today. BTW: If I need to ask all question in one post please tell me. I wanted to know if using XChache or any other caching solution is better for performance and caching with IP.Board? I am using Amazon web services, and I want the minimum bandwidth. Thanks again.
December 2, 201014 yr What's best for one user might not be best for you. You should try each one you have the ability to run to see which works best for you.
December 3, 201014 yr Author Thanks Michel, but I wanted to know if it will be better than what IPB implemented by default?
December 3, 201014 yr I decided to go for APC but that was only because its due to be included in php 6
December 3, 201014 yr Using xcache since a while. Everything works good for us. Few members are using APC and they are also happy with it.
December 3, 201014 yr Author Does xCache have any advantages compared to what exists by default with IPB?
December 3, 201014 yr Does xCache have any advantages compared to what exists by default with IPB? What you mean by default? I don't think there is any caching system by default enabled in IPB? If there is then neglect my post. xCache or any php caching system, will just make your page load faster and there will be less CPU usage overall, if I understand it correctly.
December 3, 201014 yr Thanks Michel, but I wanted to know if it will be better than what IPB implemented by default? Probably, yes, but there isn't any way to say for sure (your host might have messed up settings for it which could cause it to be worse, for example), or to say how much of an improvement you'll see. Just try each and see if they help. There is no best caching method, some work great on some hosts but not so well on others, which is why IP.Board lets you pick from among several different ones.

" From what I understand, IPB caches pages by serving cached content from the database. I am not an expert on this either. Anyone?
