TechieGeek
Google has created a new image format http://googlecode.blogspot.com/2010/09/webp-new-image-format-for-web.html which allows images to be smaller without quality loss. It would be great if Invision Power was the first to include this new technology with the forum software. There's a converter that you can use to change the images. I would love to see all the images on IP.B converted to the new format.
Management Matt Posted October 1, 2010 Management Share Posted October 1, 2010 I actually wondered how long it would take for this suggestion to appear. It only improves on jpeg compression and IPB has very few jpegs. We mainly use png and gif.
bfarber
No browsers support the format yet - even Chrome doesn't yet support the format (the blog entry indicates they are pushing a patch into Webkit to be included in the next Chrome release). I'd personally suggest it's a bit premature to worry about an image format that no one can view yet. :D
