Twitter Like Tagging

Ok so I know if you have it setup in your preferences you can receive notification when you get quoted... But I'd like a way of tagging members in topics kinda like the twitter @twitter... and then they get a notification (if they turn it on) but make it so if I type @Matt it automatically creates a link to Matt's profile and then if he has those notifications on gets a notification that he's been tagged.So basically kinda like a super BBCode on crack.

Or even something like if you stated their full display name then it tagged them if you didn't want to steal the twitter @ since a BBCode already exists with that.
