Icy
Hello Someone registered on my forum and flooded with profile comments on lots of my members profile. Then here is the things I tried to do. 1. Search all posted profile comments by the users and delete it. 2. Revoke profile comments permission to specific group. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find neither option. These two should be an option.
Management Charles Posted May 23, 2010 Management Share Posted May 23, 2010 These would be good options.
bfarber
1. Search all posted profile comments by the users and delete it. This is available in 3.1. You can test it on our site (go to search, put in author bfarber, choose members and leave "Profile comments" selected and submit).
Icy
I can search but as an Admin can I select all and delete? Also an ACP function for this is really appreciated. And what about #2?
bfarber
There is no mass moderation on search results at this time, no. As for ACP, if you delete the user, all his comments will be deleted. If you mark user as a spammer, I believe that also deletes all their profile comments (though I'm not positive). I didn't mention #2 because I didn't have anything to say/add/clarify. Icy
Hmmphh! The member was flagged as spammer and banned as well but comments still shows. I've also deleted the member and now the comments show as Guest's.
bfarber
Oh? Perhaps we have it updating the user comments to guest instead of deleting them when the user is deleted. If everyone agrees, we can probably change that to just delete the comments the user has made when deleting the user account (for a future version, not 3.1.0). Elemental Crisis
I'd like to see all 3 suggestions added in a future version of IPB. It would be nice being able, as a member to view a members profile and see what profile comments they've left for others. As an admin you could select which profile comments to delete instead of hunting through member profiles.
BritmovieUk
2. Revoke profile comments permission to specific group. Had a similar problem with a spammer and would similarly like to be able to disable access to profile comments in the usergroup.
Guest CallieJo
If everyone agrees, we can probably change that to just delete the comments the user has made when deleting the user account (for a future version, not 3.1.0). Count my vote please...thanks...
TCWT
Oh? Perhaps we have it updating the user comments to guest instead of deleting them when the user is deleted. If everyone agrees, we can probably change that to just delete the comments the user has made when deleting the user account (for a future version, not 3.1.0). Will there be a tool for 3.1 to prune comments left by deleted members? There are some on my 2.3 board. Also, deleted friends show still show up as something else. Jaymez
I'd like to just disable comments on profiles and not let users see a comments option in their cp at all. It's a "nice to have in certain scenarios" feature but should never have been a default feature w/no off switch imo I did a few skin edits to get around this, but that's not ideal.
