Separate UPLOAD from ATTACH

I've posted this before, but so far, I haven't seen any progress on this.

I'd like to see you separate the UPLOAD action from the ATTACH to POST action.

That is, I'd like to see a link for me to UPLOAD files into a file bucket. Basically, this would work just like attachments to a post now let you upload one or more files. The form would only allow a Title (for the bucket name) and the attachments section for uploading the files. Once the bucket form is submitted, it would basically attach it as a post to an UPLOAD topic. The user should be able to view this topic and edit any post in it (to add/remove/replace files in the bucket post).

Next, I'd like to see the ATTACH FILES button to show a form that shows all buckets and attach all or specific files out of a selected bucket. Basically, the same as now, except that the files are already uploaded so only need to attach the selected uploads to the post.

This does mean that some files might be ATTACHED to more than 1 post by the user.

I also posted that I'd like a way to email files to the board to be attached to posts. Separating the UPLOAD from the ATTACH would help this too. The email of an attachment to a board subaddress would create a new bucket with the subject as the bucket name and the user could just ATTACH it to a post once it shows up on the board. You would no longer need unique subaddresses for each post, but just each member (so the user could keep this address in their mobile contacts list for quickly uploading a photo).

We do want to create a 'My Media' menu, that is a collection of all your uploads across all apps installed, and would give you easy access to add any of them to a post form in IPB. I don't believe that we had discussed adding a upload form to that area specifically, but it's certainly something that we can consider :)

Good. In the meantime, I've decided to solve my problem of having iPhone upload photos by posting an ad to have a custom mod coded that will just allow an user to email a topic with attachments to an email address and have IPB retrieve the email and post as a topic with attachments.

This should solve my immediate problem, but I do think it is a better idea to have a "My Media" area where you upload all files and then have the attach operation only pull from the "My Media" area. Attach and Upload should be two different operations. You upload to your My Media space and you attach files to posts from the My Media space.
