The Old Man
At the moment, unless I'm missing the obvious, I can't see any reason to install IP.Chat on my community as IP Shoutbox provides a very good live chat service which my members seem to enjoy. Recently I received an e-mail advertising a mod called Free Video Chat which provides IPB with video webcam integration and a chat room, but you have to use 3rd party add-ons like TinyChat API. IP.Chat would be a better prospect if it included webcams. Is video support a possibilty for the future?
bfarber
Anything is a possibility. It is not something we are presently looking into or planning to add, however. Things change, but I wouldn't expect it in the next version at least.

OrahChris
Just to throw it out there, this would be a nice feature and something I'd be more than happy to shell out for. Especially if it came from IP
Luke
Um... well IP.Chat is powered by Ajax and uses a polling function. The only way this could happen is if you used Flash/Java to power the chat room... And when you get into video broadcasting, it's very costly because of bandwidth. You're better off using a third party service for stuff like that. IP.Chat is nice because it isn't as expensive as the alternatives (in a chat only sense)... At least if you want user integration. He pretty much summed it up. There is a lot of products that can do this. It is usually powered with Flash (which I recommend), like Luke said. However IP.Chat is more advanced, much more organized also. It is more of a Chatroom then the Shoutbox. Like the users list etc... Most of the products have the ability to integrate with your existing forum database, I'm sure with some small fee they will integrate it for you. InvisionNutCase
With the cost of TinyChat being $0, i can't understand why anyone wouldn't put this app on their board as it does so many other things besides videochat...you can do the whiteboard, share your desktop and even initiate a one on one video/chat session at any time, again for no cost... it doesn't get much better than this IMHO.... i too would like to see the video integrated into IPB as that is just another piece of "media" like an image, a link, or a chat session...our world is full of media rich content.. Why? Because of how it ties into your users accounts. I can create any account on tinychat if I wanted to. It also looks better.
