Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted March 19, 201015 yr I don't use the wysiwyg editors but I still like to be able to highlight some text and use keyboard shortcuts, such as Apple + B for bold, etc. Any chance we can get this included please? Anyone else think it's a good feature? Also, when clicking on any of the icons I think it would be better if the cursor moves to the middle, instead of the whole block being highlighted. So if we have some text in our clipboard we just need to click on quote and apple+v. Rather than quote, click in the middle to put our cursor there, and then apple+v.
March 19, 201015 yr I am able to use some of the most common shortcuts but I'm also not on a mac. As for the cursor thing I think that it's either one or the other sort of thing. It highlights because you can highlight text and press the button and it will add the code around it. But I could be wrong.
March 19, 201015 yr Author Ah right thanks Josh. I hope it's a near, rather than distant future, version :D
March 19, 201015 yr Essentially, FFFV means it's not a critical bug that needs to be fixed immediately, so we can look into it at any time without really negatively affecting the overall use of the software. Like this issue - one could easily argue it's not a "bug" so much as a feature suggestion. But rather than close it, we just marked it to be looked into at some point in the future.
March 19, 201015 yr Author I wouldn't say it's a functional bug, more a usability bug - so understand it may not be high priority. Unfortunately in most companies UX takes second place, but I think it's given higher precedence here :)
March 19, 201015 yr We're fortunate enough to have a skilled designer on staff, so we don't end up with developers who have to make all the design decisions (you're lucky I'm not tasked with design...).

Yeah it's a major flaw of many companies - where design is a mere afterthought. Design can make or break a site. You must have taken on a designer around about v3? Cos the IPB2 design wasn't that great tbh (no offence to whoever did it).

I don't believe, however, that he actually designed the IPB 2 skin from the ground up or anything like that. It was more an evolution of earlier skins. IPB 3's skin was obviously a "from scratch" job.
March 20, 201015 yr It's also worth noting that the IP.Board 2 skin was really old, it was designed back in 2004, although I think it looked pretty good. The skin wasn't designed in house, it was contracted out to a design company.
