when u have this options in ACP

Allow "Display Names" to YES
and
Lost Password: Password Method is "allow user to enter new password"

when user forget his password it works fine, but if u forget your username, it does not work, i think good idea to show username in the Lost Password page. Or send it by email.

thanks

A bump for this old post. Here's the issue...

[1] User forgets his password, so he initiates a password request.

[2] User is sent an e-mail with the 'I forgot my password' verification link. It *does* actually contain his username, but it's kind of mentioned casually, at the top of the e-mail, in the introductory greeting.

[3] User quickly scans down to the verification link, not seeing his username, clicks the verification link and changes his password.

[4] It now takes him to the login page, asking for his username and password. The problem is, if the user doesn't know remember what his username was, he's screwed, unless he manages to notice how casually it's mentioned at the top of the verification e-mail.

username,

This email has been sent from http://www.forums.com

I've had a few people tell me they've forgot their username, and can't figure out how to login after resetting their password.

I think maybe the verification e-mail needs to be more explicit. Maybe a line right above, or below, the verification link that says something to the effect of *NOTE* - Your username is: blah and you will need it to login after you change your password.

Change the contemts yourself to your liking via Manage Language in the ACP.

Yep, I've changed mine. Just thought it might be a good bit of feedback for IP Board's default installs. Who knows how many people have given up trying to rejoin a community/forum after forgetting their username?

Here's what I've changed mine to if anyone cares (for IP Board 3.1.4) :

Languages > Manage Languages > English- > Edit word pack > lost_pass

<#NAME#>, <-- That's your username!

This email has been sent from <#BOARD_ADDRESS#>.

You have received this email because a user account password recovery

was instigated by you on the <#BOARD_NAME#>.

IMPORTANT!

------------------------------------------------

If you did not request this password change, please IGNORE and DELETE this

email immediately. Only continue if you wish your password to be reset!

How to Reset Your Password

------------------------------------------------

To reset your password, simply click on the link below and it will ask you for a new password.

*IMPORTANT* In case you forgot, your username is: <#NAME#>

Now go to this link <#NAME#> and reset that password!

<#THE_LINK#>

(Some email clients may require you to copy and paste the link into your web

browser).

Not working?

------------------------------------------------

If you could not validate your registration by clicking on the link, please

visit this page:

<#MAN_LINK#>

It will ask you for a user id number, and your validation key. These are shown

below:

Is this not working?
