Looking forward to seeing your bar / CSS - thank you for sharing.

Don't worry about the negative rep (which I do not think should be on company forums anyway) - I ignore it if I get it.

I normally do ignore it, but when it comes down to one of my posts being helpful, & imo, and it gets neg rep, it kinda gets to me because my post was helping the person out and someone just has to neg me for it. I just don't get it. Anyway, enough ranting that lol.

I would hope I'm not breaking our copyright  . That would be a fun day in my bosses office.

I think I can safely say no one from IPS will go after you for using this mod due to it hiding the copyright.

@NG regarding the scrolling - there's javascript code designed to catch that, but it might not be working 100%. I have to say, I got the idea for this mod from a jquery facebook bar tutorial I had seen. A good portion of the CSS was written by them, though I had to redo basically all of the javascript since we use Prototype (and of course, I added IPB stuff to it). The scrolling was part of the javascript code I tried to "port" over, but didn't really test that much. Will take a look when I get a chance.

Sounds good Brandon! :)

Hey, an incentive to use it, it's like free copyright removal..

Is there a way the hook could 'claim' the bottom of the window so that the rest of the contents stay above it?

Also, be nice if a member could turn it on/off.

Just finished integrating this into our new skin design. Works great (with some JS changes to suit!).

Hope you don't mind Brandon, but since we're only using the favourites section, I've moved it into the core application,

Hey Lewis, could you help me out with the Bottom Bar a little bit. I'm having a little trouble getting a popup working for my custom Facebook Connect section on it. Here's a video capture of what I have done so far. I can get the popup to open, but it won't display anything related to Facebook Connect, it won't close when you click the blue header bar or when you click inside the ipbwrapper section, and it will open for Members, and not guests. I'm sure whats going on though, but could you give a hand please if you can?

Thanks,
Donald

OK, I got that section figured out. I forgot to add the section in the JS file for the click function since they are different subpanel classes. And Brandon may be able to help with this question; What all necessary code, besides PHP code (or if I do need some php code), would I need to include the Facebook Connect into a single template bit for it to display properly like it does on sign in and register pages? Because the way I want to set this up is if the user has NOT linked their Facebook account with their forum account, the Facebook Connect link will appear, but if they HAVE, the Facebook Connect button disappears.

And also another question Brandon may be able to answer; How do I make the popup open for guests? It only seems to open for Signed In Members.

Quick question - can users switch this on and off from their CP ?

Some of my members are notorious traditionalists, and having moved them from vb to ipb, I think a static bar would push them over the edge !

I agree with this.

I like user swtichable items - saves members moaning about new items if they can disable them!

As you can see, this is already being requested. As for your members, don't you feel any temptation to do it just to watch them go insane?

LOL - bearing in mind they've just been shifted from a vbulletin board to the new funky IPB 3 - so their insanity is already prevalent :)

Hey, I got a little User CP section set up for showing and hiding the bar, if you'd like to try it out. I have set to where, if the member clicks the button to hide it, it'll hide. And if they re-click the button, it shows up again. It's also set up so guests can still see it.

But for some odd reason, the UserCP tab for it does not want to show up. Nor the left link for it.

I would like to try out the addition of turning it off and on you have set up. I also like to give my members the options to set things the way they want them.

Thanks,
Jamie

Sure thing. I'll post up a blog entry on how to do this once I figure out how I can get the UserCP tab itself to show up.

I'm afraid that'll take a lot more coding to do, and I am not sure how I could set up something like that.

I think I didn't communicate it well, but we are on the same page. :) The way you're changing it will allow the users to turn the bar off or on from within their control panel correct?

This was what I was looking for.

Thanks again,

Jamie
