Cristian_Villarreal
So, where do I install the upload folder from the zip file? Somewhere in the ACP or via FTP? After I do that, how do I get it running? Please help, instructions are really vague and I have no idea what to do. Thanks.
bfarber
You must upload the contents of the "upload" folder to your forum root (so admin folder will "overwrite" existing admin folder, etc.). Then you go to your ACP, Manage Applications, and install the chat.
Cristian_Villarreal
So there is only one upload folder on FTP and nothing will happen if I overwrite it right?
bfarber
You won't overwrite the upload folder. You need to take the contents from the upload folder of the IP.Chat download (which will be folders admin, public and interface as I recall) and upload those to your forum installation. Your FTP program may prompt you that you will overwrite files/folders, or it may not, because you won't actually be overwriting anything. You just want the contents of the public folder to be in the public folder on your server (same with admin and interface folder).
Cristian_Villarreal
It's giving me this error when I open the chat now: Site ID does not exist on the chat server.
Power Optix
You need to input a key to activate the chat. In your Invision Power client area go to Your Purchases > IP Chat and associate your IP.Board with the chat service to get your key. Copy this and navigate to the IP.Chat app in your IP.Board ACP where it should ask you for the key code. Paste and away you go. :)
Cristian_Villarreal
Already done that. what do I put under Chat Room Server?
Power Optix
I'm not seeing an input area for Chat room server in either My apps > IP Chat settings or manage apps and modules > edit applications settings...chat services. Is this IP Chat or Addonchat or Parachat?
bfarber
Already done that. what do I put under Chat Room Server? You are looking at the wrong chat application - you are looking at addonchat/parachat. IP.Chat is a separate application.

You use FTP to upload them to the server your IPB installation is on. If you are uncomfortable doing this, you should probably submit a ticket for assistance.
