What about adding a little flag on the search tabs that have new content? At the moment you have to click through every tab to check if they have new entries.

While it would be awesome to do, it would mean we'd have to run queries on every page load in search for the tabs not being displayed to find out if there is even new content. Imagine if every search ran 5 (or 10, depending on what apps you have installed) searches instead of 1? I'm afraid from a resources point of view it's not realistic.
