Jesper
Hi, I have noticed that IPB v3.0.4 (ID:30011) opens internal (forum links) posted in a topic/post opens in the same window. It seems this also occurs on your board, I am thinking that this behaviour is the correct way to handle links. However a great part of my members are used to all links will open in a new window/tab. Is there a setting/option to force all (both internal and external) links to open in a new window/tab? I told my members to use the mousewheel/third mouse button, but thought I would ask here before they drive me crazy Option in ACP //-- Open posted links in a new window? Forces links to open in a new window, if javascript is available. --// Enabled == yes Internal link reuses current window and navigates away from this page > Try it : http://community.invisionpower.com/user/27400-jesper/ External link opens a new window/tab > Try it : http://google.com/
bfarber
No, this is by design. If you wanted to change this you would need to modify the ipb.js javascript file.
Jesper
That's what I thought, personally I do not mind as I always use the wheel to open links. Thanks for clearing it up, I will take your answer to our members.
Luke
Also on many browsers (don't know about IE, don't use it) you can hold down Ctrl (or Command on Mac) while clicking to open any link in a new window (or more accurately tab).

It works for me here, so how can I code my post to open in a new tab/window? George

bfarber
If you need an answer you should submit a support ticket. This is a feedback/feature suggestion forum and we don't "answer" most topics in this forum. We use it to gather ideas for new features.
Rhuan
An idea is as follows: I have 5 links in 5 topics in my forum, a link to each topic, if I check the setting to open another window in the 5 previous links will not open in a new window, when we set the setting to Yes only the links that are posted after that will open in new windows. Do not know if I gave you quite understand my English is very bad ...

bfarber
Actually, all you should need to do is clear the content cache under System tab -> Cache Management in the ACP. BBCode is parsed at runtime, not during save, however we do cache parsed posts - so you will likely need to clear that cache for your changes to take effect.
