mld11
As shown on many high traffic sites nowadays, the nav bar (header) extends onto the second line, and makes everything look like crap. I don't mean make a crappy looking scroll bar, but something cool that only appears if the header expands past someones screen resolution. If you use 800x600 screen resolution, you know what I mean. That, and the ACP Restrictions tab. It's even worse, because of the even further limited room. Just thought it would be a good idea. CrC... 3DKiwi
I think if anyone is using a 800x600 res monitor still then they need to upgrade. I do my site assuming that the minimum width is 1280. It used to be 1024 but most monitors are at least 1280 wide these days. 3DKiwi
mld11
My site is fairly large, and runs the following apps (that are visible in header): IP.Subscriptions IP.Shoutbox IP.Downloads Manager IP.Content Tutorials iCommerce Links Awards I use a 1024 x 768 display (almost enough), and it bumps to a new line, and doesn't format a skin properly. mld11
Even better still: As many people use different skins as their main ones, IPS could introduce an optional (default: disabled) hook that will add the scrolling to the nav bar (if the skin the user is using uses the same class/div id as IPS. This way, all skins would be affected, not just the default IPS skin. There are quite a few spots in the ACP that would be nice to have this feature, System Settings and ACP Restrictions are the obvious ones.
mld11
bump... I feel this is important enough to be seen.
3DKiwi
I can't see IPS being interested in this. This is more suitable for a third party hook. There's a scrolling recent topic hook available an I tried it out. I found it very hard on the eyes. Jaggi - re monitor size. I run a CG graphics site. Virtually all of members are running reasonable sized monitors i.e. 1280 or more. 3DKiwi
mld11
Unfortunately, my Dad uses my desktop, therefore I have to use the 1024 x 768 resolution. People can't just make their screen smaller to suit the minority. Graphics / Design desktops / workstations are the ones with resolutions like yours. Most of us don't use such large resolutions. 3DKiwi
You and your father should set up accounts for yourself. That's what my wife and daughter do on my Wife's PC. That way you can each have your own desktop and settings. 3DKiwi
optrexnz
use CTRL and scroll the mouse wheel. The menu is text based so the font will shrink/zoom as required.
Alex K.
That has the side effect of scaling all the rest of the items and text on the page though.
optrexnz
give me 5 mins, I am just going to write up a couple of articles that may help or at least provide an alternative option ok, try this - it simply moves the search box down instead of moving the links down. http://community.invisionpower.com/resources/articles.html?record=

bfarber
Our official minimum resolution is 1024x768. If there are bugs in the core software at that resolution, they can be reported. We do not officially support anything lower than that.
