Vivian it beggars belief how you can claim copyright to someone else's work, this mod has been out for many years, and you have claimed it as your mod without even mentioning the original copyright holder in your text, but change it for your own. Here is a copy of the original text, by the original mod writer some 6 years before yours.

Now that can't be possible can it, I mean you wrote it right, wrong!!!!!!!! I also have the copy of the one he did for 2.3.x

Step 1.

Upload the folder "flags" to your style_images directory


Step 2.

In the admin control panel click "view all general settings" under the "system settings" section & click "CPU saving and optimization"


Step 3.

Make sure "Allow custom profile field info be used in TopicView" is set to yes and click update settings at the bottom of the page.


Step 4.

Click "custom profile fields" under "users and groups" & "add new field"


Step 5.

For Field Title enter "Country" (no quotes for all)

For Description "select your country"

For Minimum Input "0"

For Display Order "0"



For Optional Content enter the info below

Include on registration page? ----- "yes" (up to you)

Field MUST be completed and not left empty? ----- "yes" (up to you)

Field can be edited by the member? ----- "yes"

Make this a private profile field? ----- "no"

Make Admin and Super Moderator Editable/Viewable Only? ---- "no"


Submit the info



Step 6.

Roll over the word "edit" on the "custom profile field manager"


If you look at the status bar at the bottom there should be a string there... copy down the number at the end of the string.



Step 7.

Go to your "skin manager" & edit "topic view" ---> "render row" and look for

{$author['member_posts']}<br />


Directly below that place

<if="author['field_#'] != """>Country: {$author['field_#']}<BR><img src="style_images/flags/{$author['field_#']}.gif" border='0'></if><br />


Be sure to replace the 3 #'s with the number you wrote down before and replace the URL to the board with your URL.

I installed this mod 2 days ago and I already have quite a few members wanting state flags for the United States instead of the American Flag default.

Making an option to subset the country United States into individual states would be awsome. Especially if a forum's members are mainly from the United States.

Check if "flags" folder exists here:


/public_html/public/style_images/Flags


and if there are flag images inside the folder.




Hi there broni.
I would like to say a big Thank You for your time in trying to help me sort the problem out with the Country Flags on my new upgraded 3. 2. 2. board.

After spending many hours at the computer trying to fix this, I have finally managed to resolve the broken flags and they are now working like before. Hooray! :smile:

I moved the Flags into the "public_html" folder, then in the Topic View Format of Custom Profile Field in ACP I wrote the following text:

All the flags on my forum worked from that point on, thankfully.
