Suggestion: Ban From Topic

Hello,

We all know that we can Ban a Member from the Board or suspend him for some time.

But what about Ban Him from a Topic?
Because sometimes a member do something we don't like in a Topic, and we don't want to Ban him from the Board, just in that Topic.

Thanks

There is a mod for 2.3 called Topic Ban System available through -ize. We use it on our existing board and it is a great tool when we dont want to ban someone outright, just stop them disrupting a certain topic. It would be nice to have this in V3.0

never understood that.. had it installed once.
if guests can see the topic, then they can see the topic.

suppose you're talking about member only topics. .. or not.
I mainly used to for replies and only members can reply.

carry on. I might find this useful someday.

nothing to do with guests ll4ever - this is for members who migt disrupt a thread. We find it quite versatile ......

in our normal forums, only registered members can post (guests cannot). However, sometimes discussions turn into arguments or into abuse or sometimes idiots just want to try and take it off topic to annoy the mods .... in any event, this modification gives us an excellent moderation tool that is less of a punishment than post moderation (which is really just more work for us) or an outright ban (which might be a little OTT for a somewhat minor annoyance).

We can set it so the person banned from the topic can see but not reply to the thread, or we can set it so they cannot see or reply to the individual thread. Their permissions in every other thread in that forum (and the rest of the board) is unaffected.

I notice the modders own website is now just a domain parked page so we might have to get used to living without it :(

I didn't know such a mod existed. There are many times in the past I could have used it! Not going to install it on my 2.3.6 forum now (since I plan to upgrade to 3.0 at some point), so I hope the mod is updated for 3.0 down the road. :)
