More control over URL structure a

I'd like to propose for future versions the ability to change the URL format to a variety of different structures rather than the current one.

The way it is now, its putting the topics and forums and sub folders which shouldn't be necessary and diminish the value of these sections. The/deeper/in/the/url/structure/something/is the less important it can be viewed in search engines, and perhaps the ability to black list words (and words under 3 characters) from appearing in the url. If we could remove the 'forum' or 'topic' part that would be a great start, and rather than having the entire forum title as the URL, the ability to enter just the forum id (http://forums.invisionpower.com/forum/this-is-a-forum-title vs http://forums.invisionpower.com/f13/)

Other than that, I think the friendly URL's are a great start to enhancing the SEO

I don't know all the nitty and gritty about actually doing it, but the FURL implementation in IPB is very customizable. I imagine someone else can give you more pointers for actually making those changes, but much of that can be done with very little effort.

The formats for the urls can be edited for each application that supports FURL under application folder/extensions/furlTemplates.php

It may not be able to achieve everything yet, but it's a start - you could, for instance, get rid of the forum title in the URL or move topics/forums out of "subfolders" if you wanted.
