Yes, thank you, I know what generation time means, what I meant was that I have no idea what the generation time was for that page, since it is not displayed.

Impressive given there are over 1400 people using the board (although amusingly, only 45 of those are logged in!!) ..Al

In other words, not really doing their homework. This is not the correct answer. [quote name='Kotonoha' date='02 July 2009 - 10:03 AM' timestamp='1246482238' post='1818535'] Because IPS offers hosting, and unless they pay for copyright removal all of their forum's pages will have a link to a competitor's site. This is the correct answer. A couple of years ago, there was an entire series of IPB where the IPS link was removed, and there was only a link to the Invision Board site. This theoretically could have worked out for hosting companies, etc, but then IPS put back the IPS link and that was the end of that.

Micheal is l33t and knows all, its said his dad used to read him lines of ipb code when he was little. he also has to be one of (if not THE) biggest mod contributor in the ips community.

It really pre-dated PHP a bit, so was actually developed in another language that was commonly used on websites at the time for 'dynamic content'. Sorry for the bit of a history lesson btw! ;) But I do remember using IkonBoard 2 very well back in the day - and believe me, skinners and modders have it very easy these days making their excellent designs or bits of additional specialised functionality :)
Smokey-Rev Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 God I remember IkonBoard....it was quite interesting but IPB was the better product. is iB even still being actively developed? I don't believe it is....

Management Matt Posted July 6, 2009 Management Posted July 6, 2009 I have Ikonboard 2.3 alpha on my desktop still. Never released. It was written before the 3.0 recode was started.
Energizer Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 [quote name='Ditchmonkey' date='10 June 2009 - 07:00 PM' timestamp='1244656834' post='1808845'] Vbulletin has moved all customer feedback threads to a non-public forum so I can't link any threads. But let me tell you what's going on in that private forum - VB users are very angry and are becoming more and more vocal about it. VB staff are becoming very heavy-handed in moderating that forum. Essentially, dissent is no longer tolerated and constructive discussions about customer needs are a thing of the past. So IPB - keep it up with the great communication, friendly customer support, and great product offerings and you may just see a mass-exodus to your products. [quote name='Ditchmonkey' date='10 June 2009 - 08:56 PM' timestamp='1244663800' post='1808867'] A whole range of issues. The product itself has had little meaningful development for the last couple of years. The photo gallery and groups features have very poor integration with the forum. Blog product is widely criticized for many faults. Search functionality really doesnt work at all for very large forums. VB is very difficult to integrate with third party applications and VB will not reveal if it has any plans for a product like IPB's converge. There is no product roadmap that details what the future holds for development and features. There is no first party or third party professional developers network for VB making professional, business level support difficult or impossible to find. What we do know is that the price of VB is going up (again), long time VB developers are leaving the company, and customer complaints are being dealt with very harshly in the forums. There is more, but thats what I came up with off the top of my head. The developers of VB do only what they want and not what their customers want. Requests from customers are ignored. So something will eventually be punished. A DJ may also not only the music to play, what he likes, but he needs to play to what his customers like to hear. If he does not, he will have no more success. It also came with VB. Added to this is that the VB development in recent years has overslept. I have no Pity with VB. When you are with its clients handled, then it deserves nothing else!

AlexWright Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 I love Invision Power Services, they are amazing with their top-rate customer service. I had a problem with my forums going down at around 2 am Eastern Time, and contacted the Emergency: Hosting department. It was my pleasure that they got the forums up and running in around twenty minutes. I have to say, of all the software I have used for multiple forums (IF, Zetaboards <- the new IF, IPBFree, phpBB, and among others vBulliten), I am most pleased with IPB (and wishing I could buy a perpetual license >.< ) But yes, thank you all for your wonderful support, your amazing softwares (This doesn't even include Gallery, Blogs and the like) and everything!
