IPB 3.0, coming this When it's ready™

Beta 4 was highly unstable and buggy. And considering there's still about 30 confirmed bugs in the tracker, I think we're not going to see a release anytime soon.

They've said their target date is before June, and really I disagree with you saying beta 4 was highly unstable and buggy, it's not very buggy at all compared the betas before it, and they really are making a lot of progress.

Well, June is seven weeks away. Beta 5 will probably be another week or two and that's not to say anything about how many RC's. That June date is gonna cut it close but I think we'll see the release sometime in June. ;)

Let me remind everyone that bug fixes are NOT the only thing that we work on between beta releases. ;) For instance, Rikki has been working hard to consolidate and clean up the CSS - something we promised would be done before release. Additionally, we've spent the last few days doing further performance testing and tweaking.

I know this is only vaguely on-topic, but do you have a timeframe for release of Beta 5?

Yes, yes, I know.... "When It's Ready!" ;)

But are we talking another week or two, or mere days?

And if you can't or aren't allowed to answer that, I understand. I'm just trying to do some scheduling of my time for this week and next.

TIA.

We have an internal list that must get done before Beta 5 can be released. By and large, the list isn't backend/development related so I can't really estimate I'm afraid. :)

Instead of releasing a beta 5 with a bunch of unfinished items and known issues we're working to have everything done for beta 5. This should streamline the rest of the beta/RC process greatly by not moving into this stage with a lot of outstanding items that need to be finished (and tested).

Invision power board community is getting better and better...I own a vbulletin forum by just using invision power board i think invision can be better then vbullein and vbullein updates arent really very big in 3.8.1 from the older versions theres only a little change. I have studied why people like vbulletin it is because of this navbits_finallink_ltr.gifand the posting rules that tells you you dont have permission do to this or that if the invision power board can do that that means vbulletin are lagging bahind. thanks you

  • 2 weeks later...

not complaing, but this is just "normal"

When it said it is comnig soon last Dec or Nov, people should knew it is gonna takes at least 6 months and another 6 months to settle dust

so if you have any forum plan on hands, go for it now unless you could wait for another 6 months

Not to mention that best time to upgrade is also when formal release is at least 6 months old smile.gif
