Carl M
I wondered if a "whats new in IPB 3.0" was going to be made for members of forums - its all well and good that the Admins of the forum know about whats new but i thought some pointers for forum members would be useful? bfarber
Do you mean like a post you would refer your members here to read? I don't think we generally do that, though we do usually summarize the major changes in our release announcements.
Carl M
No i mean something visible for members of OUR forums - things like media bbcode wont mean anything to the majority of members etc. Just a little tutorial of things that can be done with the new forum that couldnt be with the last - i know there will be more than likely be a help section but i think it would be more useful if this information was presented upfront. Just a suggestion - thanks for taking the time to read and respond.
bfarber
I don't see any clean proper way to do that. Outside of including help files on the new features, there's not a proper way for us to put this "up front" really. My best recommendation is to post an announcement on your site after upgrading that explains these things to your users in a manner you feel appropriate. Each site will have different features they intend to turn on or off, and a different age group (and thus different terminology they may wish to use) so it's best to leave this to each admin to deal with as they see fit. RTM
While I agree with ya Brandon, I think some sort of community organised "what's new" message - designed for end-users - for be really useful. It would be beneficial for IPB to somehow assist in this (since you folks are the ones who know IPB best) in that it will sell the platform to forum users (who ultimately determine what platform is picked by the site admin).... Just an idea, Rob
bfarber
I'm a developer - perhaps one of our employees who work more on the "end user" side of things might want to help.
