marcut
So, I'm really confused. I just paid a guy for an all out skin for 2.3.6. It looks amazing. However, I have no idea how it'll work on this new board software. I feel like these buttons aren't replacable. Are they? IS skin from 3.3 going to be able to come over here (with coding changes obviously, but like will the images be the same)? Thanks for the help. .Matt.
You will have to redo the whole skin for IPB3, and why would any image not be replaceable?
Cybertimber2009
Because they aren't images Killswitch ;) They are CSS boxes. (Makes language packs not need a supplementary topic buttons pack of images). They CAN be replaced with images though I'm sure. Unfortunatley Marcut, you will not be able to import any 2.x skins into 3.x. The skinning engine (and most of the backend) has had a complete overhaul. Can look at Rikki's recent posts for confirmation of that.
.Matt.
Pretty sure he was talking about the forum buttons. "new topic, ect." They are not CSS, they are images, within CSS. And even the "CSS Boxes" can be replaced.
bfarber
The button style is generated via CSS. The images ON the buttons are separate images that you can optionally put there if you want (as we did) or omit if they're not needed.
VT-Vincent
From what I've seen, it appears most of the images for things such as the icons have been alpha blended. I assume this will be kept in the final version of the skin to simplify color changes on the UI elements?
bfarber
Yes, the skin, while still in development, is not going to change much from what you see now.
