Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted February 23, 200916 yr Posting here since the IPB 3 preview site is offline. Is it possible to turn off the ability for users/groups to invite other users into personal conversations (essentially making it like the PM system in 2.x)? (preferably a per-group option, "can invite other users to personal convos", or "# of users allowed to invite"). I didn't see it when I looked through the beta, but I could have overlooked it. I think it's important that this is added if not, as I was just discussing the new personal conversations with another admin and they're opposed to the new system (allowing more than one person in on a conversation) for the reason that it might lower public discussion, and the potential that it will be used to create unpleasant undercurrents rather than be a useful tool. Sad to say, but the gossip factor on our board can be extremely strong and he worries about facilitating that further.
February 24, 200916 yr Management Yes there's an option to limit number of participants. If you set it to 1 then it's just like the 2.x PM system.
February 24, 200916 yr Yes there's an option to limit number of participants. If you set it to 1 then it's just like the 2.x PM system. Sorry, but where it is? I've checked in per-group settings, and in the Personal Message Setup setting. I can't think of anywhere else that would be appropriate for that setting? Thanks.
February 24, 200916 yr Management It's incorrectly labeled (I have literally just fixed it) but the group setting is called "Max number of allowed to mass PM?".
February 24, 200916 yr Management Max number of invites allowed? Enter 0 or leave blank to allow no invites other than named recipient.
