IPB is fixed friendly?

Featured Replies

I was told by someone that IPS suggests a minimum of 960px for the width of a forum layout. I'd like to know if that's true and if IPB 3 will be more fixed friendly.

It better not be true, most people use 1024

as always the layout is made to be elastic so it should resize with your browser however its designed to work optimally at 1024+ res.

You can make it 500px wide if you want. IPS just suggests that in the CSS.

What evidence do you have to back that up with?

Pleh, nevermind.

I think we're off the topic now.

BTW 1680x1050 rocks!!!

:P

1680x1050 would look pretty dodgy on my monitor...

Most people use 1280 x 800 particularly if it's widescreen. On my little 15.4" Widescreen laptop I use 1280 x 800, but on my desktop, which has dual 24" Dell 2408WFP LCDs, I have them at 1920 x 1200. It really depends on what size of the screen most people have.

And how good their video card is.

Doesn't take much of a video card to render that. :)

I meant resolution size.

mines 1680x1050 and i can say that ipb3 looks fine on my monitor :D .

481 ;)

1920x1200

I don't typically have my browser maximized though, and I always have my bookmarks bar open.

Ok, ok....

Officially, we only support 1024x768 or higher. The main problem area(s) are the profile, the portal, and the messenger (not all content can fit on smaller resolutions).

The site will work at any resolution, but you'll have stuff falling over to new lines and not looking very good.

The official resolution for v3 will also be 1024x768. By that, we mean that you shouldn't report skin bugs that only occur on resolutions smaller than this.

I know about stuff not fitting and not looking good, it's IPS' fault I had to switch from 800x600 to 1024x768.

Wish I had known this before I purchased my custom header is only 800px wide and looks stupid sitting on top of this thing that gets wider on window resize.... =S

Indeed it does.

But as many people have mentioned, 800x600 is old stuff. Technology evolves, and so must people. 800x600 is basically obsolete nowadays. Even 1024x768 isn't too common. If some people don't like IP .Board not looking right on really low resolutions, then just use a higher resolution. It actually makes things look better, and you can fit more things on a screen, too!

Bitter.

Just as long as everything isn't jumbled together...
