Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted October 20, 200816 yr Just like for the admin cp, i think there should be one more moderators, it could be more detailed, and also, the moderators could get some new stuff like perhaps: 1) turning board on/off 2) Editing member (all fields) 3) Ban settings 4) forum moderators? Anyone agree?

October 20, 200816 yr 1) Best left for admins. Tho i can see where it can come in handy if forum has been spammed etc. 2) I agree 3) I agree also 4) Don't really know.. Well, by the 4th one, i meant by, so that a global mod has ctrl of forum moderators, that way, the admin can focus on more important things.. :P
October 20, 200816 yr Well, by the 4th one, i meant by, so that a global mod has ctrl of forum moderators, that way, the admin can focus on more important things.. :P Ah, I see.. 4) BIG PLUS ONE!
October 20, 200816 yr 1. I think should be admins only 2. Kind of. though I am a little hesitant to let moderators do that. 3. Yes 4. Again, I dont think super moderators should be able to control/manage forum moderators. Adding forum moderators seems like something done by admins. I rarely give my admins free will of appointing forum moderators, let alone giving my super moderators that ability.
October 20, 200816 yr What I mean is, on my and most forums that I know of, moderators are decided upon by all the administrators, not just one admin making someone a moderator on their own will. So giving moderators this ability to seems pointless.Well, by the 4th one, i meant by, so that a global mod has ctrl of forum moderators, that way, the admin can focus on more important things.. :P In my opinion, promoting people to moderator is one of the most important, high level task there is. You are basicly handing to someone full ability to police your forums, to act on your behalf, and to represent you. and for number two, I think moderators currently have enough ability to edit members profiles.
October 22, 200816 yr We are not talking about administrators, we are talking about moderators. I do give my admins the physical ability to add and remove moderators for emergency situations that they need to remove one of them and I am not online for them to consult.

I do give my admins the physical ability to add and remove moderators for emergency situations that they need to remove one of them and I am not online for them to consult. If you want your mods to have those privileges than you CAN give them those privileges, you just have to have them in a group with admin status and add restrictions on what admin powers they can use.
October 22, 200816 yr only problem is the flaw that says that any one with any admin access shows up as an admin on the forum leaders page. I hope IPB3 fixes that.
October 22, 200816 yr only problem is the flaw that says that any one with any admin access shows up as an admin on the forum leaders page. I hope IPB3 fixes that. Not if the admin group is a secondary group. But yeah, I do think the Moderating Team page needs to be customizable.
October 23, 200816 yr This is why we have ACP restrictions, no? One of the best Features/Options of the Acp in my humble opinion.
November 13, 200816 yr One of the best Features/Options of the Acp in my humble opinion. Amen to that. Probably one of of the main things that separates IPB from vbulletin.
November 13, 200816 yr But yeah, I do think the Moderating Team page needs to be customizable. Agreed. I want to list non-mod/admin staff.
