Reid8470
Hey, a few weeks ago my friend and I bought a vBulletin license for $180, but we now have a template and website design we plan on buying which is only available to IPB. We'd like to keep the current posts and topics that we have (There are not a lot, but we'd still like to keep them) while switching to IPB. The problem is, we'd have to pay $150 for the License and an additional $60 to convert it. I really think it's a small bit ridiculous how to switch we'd have to pay even more than we did purchasing the vBulletin license. I'm just suggesting that you make a deal for people who consider switching to IPB from another forum service such as a discount on purchasing the license. When you read this you'll probably think "Well, if you don't want to pay the full price then you can just stick to vBulletin", which is why i'm just making a suggestion. -Reid
Lindsey_
You can keep all your topics and posts, along with member passwords. You pay $150 for your license and you can use the free converters on this page. You should email sales@invisionpower.com for more assistance. Morrigan
The extra amount ($60 dollars) is to have IPB Tech support convert it for you. ;)
peter_anderson
The converts are easy. I've done a few for some people. Honestly, you can do it with very little experience.
bfarber
As pointed out, if you feel comfortable converting the software yourself the converters are made freely available. :) If you wish for one of our technicians to do the conversion for you, that is what the $60 is for. AndyF
if the software isn't on your list, you update in how many days/weeks(see my signature)? That kind of question is probably best asked in a support ticket :)
Olivier Turbis
Converting should be free. People change their forum for IPB, so I think making it free would just be fair. Just a my opinion.
Morrigan
So you want free support for something that's not supported? That's a bad judgment as that is IPS's time to make this conversion. You pay for IPS support not other board support. There are plenty of free ones and I'm sure you can ask for support to convert it yourself so you are paying for your own time more then IPS's. Perhaps have it free for your database to be converted when you purchase an IPB license, but I still think it's fair for IPS to charge...
Mark
Conversions are free if you download the converter tools and do it yourself (obviously only works with supported software) - but a conversion from some random board takes a developer to actually build some software to work with the system you're converting from - for the amount of time and effort that takes, I think $60 is VERY cheap! Feneroin
There isn't still a WBB 3 convertor and they have said me $120 ! 60$ for conversion + 60$ for customization but I wait a WBB 3 converter for i coverting myself...
Alex
It depends on popularity, they are only going to make a converter if they feel enough people will convert to IPB from it. To put it bluntly, I have never even heard of WBB3, so I am not sure how much demand there is for such a converter.

Remember the IPS developers are working on a little thing called IPB3. But, of course your convertor is MUCH more important

Because They have WBB 2.3 convertor, so They can create a WBB3 convertor when they want...
