A moderator on my forum has asked me why is it that the messages of IP.board are so unprofessional? He gave me an example:

The error returned was:

You cannot move this topic into the same forum, well, you could but there wouldn't be a lot of point

I just thought that the professional level of the forum software should be improved. Thanks for reading ;)

I actually like those kinds of messages, they're funny.

vB even does the same thing, funny/somewhat dumb messages for stuff like moving threads to the forum they're already in.

It isn't broke, so why fix it? ;)

In the next version of IP.Board (v3), error handling has been improved. You can read about it

here

.

Don't think this will be covered personally, and really, I don't want it changed, I like a little humor from my forum software.

I find those funny not unprofessional..

Me too. I find the "Out of all the options in all the drop down, you had to choose one with dashed lines, well done. Go back and behave yourself." one funny too.

I was just making a comparison. If those messages are unprofessional, then the comments must drive one insane. :P

Now, I must ask, why would you be trying to move a topic into the same forum it's already in anyway? :o

You can change the language files as you like in the ACP.
But to be honest, that is one of those error messages (like the dashed lines one) which you're not ever supposed to see. It is an error which is generated by an invalid command, a command you shouldn't be giving - it's not like the error message for example, if you get your password incorrect, which many people are likely to see.

Sorry, but we did not find any matches to display. Try again and broaden your search criteria. If you were searching for new posts since your last visit, it's possible that there are none to show.

This is the error you get after you click the new topic link when there is no new topic. "It is politically correct"
