Posted October 10, 200816 yr A moderator on my forum has asked me why is it that the messages of IP.board are so unprofessional? He gave me an example:The error returned was: You cannot move this topic into the same forum, well, you could but there wouldn't be a lot of point I just thought that the professional level of the forum software should be improved. Thanks for reading ;)
October 10, 200816 yr In the next version of IP.Board (v3), error handling has been improved. You can read about it here.
October 10, 200816 yr Maybe he shouldn't have tried to move a topic into the forum it was already in. :P
October 10, 200816 yr Those are only there for forum moderators; It's not a big deal. Have you seen the comments in the code?
October 10, 200816 yr A moderator on my forum has asked me why is it that the messages of IP.board are so unprofessional? He gave me an example: I just thought that the professional level of the forum software should be improved. Thanks for reading ;) I actually like those kinds of messages, they're funny. vB even does the same thing, funny/somewhat dumb messages for stuff like moving threads to the forum they're already in. It isn't broke, so why fix it? ;) In the next version of IP.Board (v3), error handling has been improved. You can read about it here. Don't think this will be covered personally, and really, I don't want it changed, I like a little humor from my forum software.
October 10, 200816 yr I get a laugh at them too, but IPS is usually pretty good at keeping the snide remarks to the code comments, rather than on the forum itself :P
October 10, 200816 yr  I find those funny not unprofessional.. Me too. I find the "Out of all the options in all the drop down, you had to choose one with dashed lines, well done. Go back and behave yourself." one funny too. I was just making a comparison. If those messages are unprofessional, then the comments must drive one insane. :P Now, I must ask, why would you be trying to move a topic into the same forum it's already in anyway? :o
October 10, 200816 yr I just find it human, proves that real human beings are working hard to develop a software, do not remove that.
October 10, 200816 yr A different mod may had already moved it between the time the first mod loaded the source forum to trying to move the topic.
October 10, 200816 yr Now, I must ask, why would you be trying to move a topic into the same forum it's already in anyway? Probably by mistake.
October 10, 200816 yr I just find it human, proves that real human beings are working hard to develop a software, do not remove that. I thought they were all cyborgs.
October 10, 200816 yr You can change the language files as you like in the ACP. But to be honest, that is one of those error messages (like the dashed lines one) which you're not ever supposed to see. It is an error which is generated by an invalid command, a command you shouldn't be giving - it's not like the error message for example, if you get your password incorrect, which many people are likely to see.
October 11, 200816 yr The error returned was: Sorry, but we did not find any matches to display. Try again and broaden your search criteria. If you were searching for new posts since your last visit, it's possible that there are none to show. This is the error you get after you click the new topic link when there is no new topic. "It is politically correct"
October 11, 200816 yr I thought they were all cyborgs.  Woot! Another excuse to link this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXa9tXcMhXQ !
October 11, 200816 yr Woot! Another excuse to link this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXa9tXcMhXQ ! that was terrible, shame on you josh
October 11, 200816 yr When uninstalling Google Chrome it says in brackets 'Was it something we said?' ... if Google can have "unprofessional" messages, IPS can. :D I personally like messages like that ...makes them less hard nosed and boring.

October 11, 200816 yr I like this one the best. Should have more.Out of all the options in all the drop down, you had to choose one with dashed lines, well done. Go back and behave yourself.
