Cool Surfer
It would be good to have this handy feature if it can be anabled from admin cp. just these Name, pwd, email id And if the admin wants to make this default then the other features of registration like age, sec, country etc may be hidden from the visitor. W13
how about: Just email :-) and when they click the activation link in their email, then they get promoted (by a slowly flashing bar at the top, below the navigation) to select a user name, password, and etc. For forums where email validation is off, then somebody would just enter in their User Name, and the flashing bar will them to select a password and a email address, and other stuff. --- Most people register for a REASON... i.e. they wanna reply or make a topic. So this method --^ will allow them to get on with whatever they needed to do quickly, and then fill in the other details later. This stuff can be Ajaxed right in the 'Fast Reply' (above the text-area) for un-registered users.
Michael
You should be able to skin out those things you don't want to display pretty easily. That being said, many sites like having the CAPTCHA there to prevent spam registrations, this would leave you more vulnerable to those.

Just an add-on to my post here: I noticed that Bugzilla uses such a registration method : https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/createaccount.cgi
Josh
I like the idea of a quick register, but I don't know if that will be in IPB3 or not.
Jυra
Maybe in IPB 3.0.1 then. :3 I like this, but at the same time it'll just help people leech 'n go of my gallery. o.o
TrixieTang
Mods like this are pretty popular, and I think that's what it should be left at, it doesn't need to be default.
Cool Surfer
I like the idea of a quick register, but I don't know if that will be in IPB3 or not. Because there are times when you are just browsing the google for some info n u click on a link and next a big registration page stares at you. Its then that we go to another link in google. It will definitely increase no of registrations.
Kfir
That is what I have been suggesting here: http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php?showtopic=276045 "1. Full functionally in the ACP: custom fields, required/not required field."
