AndyF Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I think it would be good if (when moving a topic and leaving a "Moved" link) , there was also an option available to remove this after a set time period. I suppose it could be either a global set limit (in the ACP for every forum) , ie remove the links after x hours. Or, perhaps selectable for each move operation (more flexible) , I just made a quick mock-up pic anyway... :)
Morrigan Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 That would be great because I don't even put the link because it gets so messy but then some people lose their posts.
Cool Surfer Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Better would be if the moved link appears to those who have viewed the topic earlier than the moved date. For members who are reading the topic for the first time there is no need to stick moved icon for them.
Jυra Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Moved links are wonderful for newer members or people new to forums. But having a set expiration date would be nice, as those moved links are generally ugly.
TrixieTang Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 +1, also +999 for an admin settable option to disable them completely. :P
Mark H. Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 +5 to the suggestion. And PLEASE, change the "moved post" link behavior to be marked "read" by default, instead of "unread". As it stands now, you have to explcitly mark the whole forum read to get rid of the New Post icon on the forum main page, when there's a link within that forum. The moved post ALREADY shows up as new in the forum to which it was moved. Visitors will see it.
atomicknight Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 You can just use the prune function to get rid of moved links....but still a nice idea for the sake of convenience :)
W13 Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 You can just use the prune function to get rid of moved links....but still a nice idea for the sake of convenience :) ++ Just use Mass Remove (Prune). and my old idea of, "Auto-PM Topic Starter that their topic has been moved" ;-)
TSP Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Great idea. That would be great because I don't even put the link because it gets so messy but then some people lose their posts. You could also solve that problem with my solution (my topics list) here: http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php?showtopic=276114
Morrigan Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 There is already the Topic and Posts feature in the Profile but it would still be more helpful the way described. ;)
TSP Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Yeah, I think it's way to "complicated" to need to view two lists that isn't easy accessible like the one I showed you there, and it stops people from discovering new posts in topics that haven't been active for a while. But we can take that discussion in it's own topic. ;)

It kind of makes it look messy with a lot of moved topic links all over the place. I normally just do not bother making one.
Jυra Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 I normally just do not bother making one. Same. Even on my small forum it's annoying having to go back and remove them after a while.
Amy T Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Yep it sure is. I just Pm the member who created the topic that I moved it and where I moved it to. You know what might be nice as well a feature I saw in ocf and thats an email is sent out to any one who has replied to the topic including the Topic creater telling them it was moved.
.Matt. Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 I would bet some good money that IPB already included this in IPB3 :)
Jaggi Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 i gotta say i want this too, i made a task script to do it on my board a long time ago so its easy peasy!
