Invision Community 5: A video walkthrough creating a custom theme and homepage By Matt Thursday at 04:02 PM
Cool Surfer Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 I was wondering why is a moderator /admin punished to goto his control panel to make or edit announcement?? Why not let him post them like any new topic etc????
Michael Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 You have an odd definition of the word "punished".
Cool Surfer Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 You have an odd definition of the word "punished". It was just a metaphor ...
Michael Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Announcements aren't the same thing as posts/topics, they can go in multiple forums, they don't have replies, they just have a title instead of both a title and description, you can't make polls in them, you can't attach files to them, etc. Why should they be posted the same way as posts or topics when they don't behave the same way?

Cool Surfer Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Michael you still have to go to ur control panel to edit the announcement. Why not have those edit buttons be visible under announcements anywhere > then > just click n edit it, instead of going to my controls. OR Have another moderator function in that drop down list under a post the moderator is seeing. like POST THIS TOPIC AS ANNOUNCEMENT with maybe furthur 2 more options of apply changes to only this announcement or to all announcements posted wherever,

Cool Surfer Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Why should they be posted the same way as posts or topics when they don't behave the same way? Why shouldnt they be ?
Amy T Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Why shouldnt they be ? Thinking the same thing it would make it much easier. Like in the menu where it has pin this topic had the option of have this as an announcement. That way you would have all the features Micheal said were missing.
2Transform Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 okay--dumb newbie question-- WHERE are announcements on the acp?
TrixieTang Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 okay--dumb newbie question-- WHERE are announcements on the acp? User CP, Moderator Tools, Manage Announcements.
W13 Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php?...t&p=1734998
Cool Surfer Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Or if the announcement is like just pinning a topic, with extra advanced option saying display this post / announce in > then a box showing all forums that can be selected. Soething like when we set permissions for a forum and we can highlight admin, members, guests, banned etc.
Jυra Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I rarely make annoucements. I'd hate to have even more controls while posting normally on the forum.
Morrigan Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 One more selection in the dropdown isn't that bad. <_<
viiiper_merged Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 okay--dumb newbie question-- WHERE are announcements on the acp? Not such a dumb Question many ask about it (inc me) Where is the Announcement button :D and when they find out, they always say, Arhhhh ... thx
2Transform Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 its in moderators control panel. And where is that?
TrixieTang Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 And where is that? My Controls, Moderator Tools, Manage Announcements
Rikki Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 We won't be integrating the post and announcement screens, however, we are aiming to make posting an announcement more accessible to moderators.
