Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted August 2, 200816 yr I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post - but I have reason to believe that a radio station called GamerFM is running an unlicensed version of IP Boardhttp://gamerfm.co.uk/forums I Would be grateful if you could check this out, if this is an unlicensed copy it
August 2, 200816 yr Piracy Reports If you are aware of unauthorized distribution or use of IPS products, please report it to us by using this form. Thank you.
August 2, 200816 yr I can assure everybody that aforementioned URL is a legal version of Invision Power Board, as it is my perpetual license which is covering it.
August 2, 200816 yr Yeah we know, its just they have been using a version of IPB uploaded on their own servers...
August 2, 200816 yr Yeah we know, its just they have been using a version of IPB uploaded on their own servers... Just report the site with the above link and move on! (w00t)
August 2, 200816 yr Innocent until proven guilty I say let IPB do their job and give the client the benefit of the doubt. Remember that IPB is not out to close a forum, instead they will first ask owners of illegal boards to purchase a license. Then they can enter their URL into the client center and none of the files need changing. If that procedure is followed nobody here will know about it anyways, so topics like this are redundant. Just report suspected sites and be done with it. You can do a lot of harm to someones reputation if you accuse them publicly. There could always be that chance that your suspicions are incorrect.
August 2, 200816 yr yeah i know the thing is im pretty sure they are unlicensed and if they are not they have nothing to be worried about, i understand IPB will not reply in this forum im not looking for them too its just i felt they needed to know.!
August 2, 200816 yr Or you post a topic and they get scarred and the forums are down for work... It reminds me of a comic 3 or so years ago that showed the United Nations as a small fish and Iran as this oversized shark thing, and it was swimming at the UN fish.... IPS vs. TPB
August 2, 200816 yr Sorry, if im asking a stupid question here, but, why exactly are you thinking they are using a pirated IPB forum? O.o
August 2, 200816 yr because they are about 13 years old... and the people who run jshosts are connected with them... id rather not continue here and id rather IPB just dealt with it.
August 2, 200816 yr because they are about 13 years old... and the people who run jshosts are connected with them... id rather not continue here and id rather IPB just dealt with it. How does the fact that they are 13 years old make any sort of proof that they are running an illegal IPB board? -_-
August 2, 200816 yr Because its unlikely they can afford it... I'll let IPS deal with it.. So, your saying, they cant afford to pay 149 $ per year for the forums? And thats why you are suspecting them of illegal IPB? -_- That would anger me, no offense, to be accused of that is just disgusting. And in the end, if your wrong, that would just waste everyones time and effort for nothing. (This is my opinion, don't get offended)
August 2, 200816 yr I was able to get 100 usd in 1 week with a mid-sized forum, how can they not get 180~USD in X time with a board that has been running for 13 years? PS: Using ads. Seems like I misunderstood the whole thing, these guys are 13 years old. My question is, why would you believe they couldn't have gotten 150 USD from a birthday present and just moved it to paypal through a prepaid card and then buy IPB... or their parents just bought them the license, there's million of reasons why they are licensed. I wonder, though, why are you so stubborn into thinking that these guys are unlicensed? Maybe it's just how I see it, but I think that you got caught and are angry because you couldn't afford a license, this leads you to believe that most people can't afford one and you start a rant because 13 year-olds can afford the license (maybe you could afford it, but paying it is not the same as being able to afford it). Just my opinion.
August 2, 200816 yr Yes i can i just see it unfair they are possibly getting it for free when people have to pay for it...
August 2, 200816 yr Yes i can i just see it unfair they are possibly getting it for free when people have to pay for it... Or are you pursuing a personal vendetta? Either way, it's IPS's job to check it.
August 2, 200816 yr Yes i can i just see it unfair they are possibly getting it for free when people have to pay for it... Lol, you think everyone pays for things in this world? Common, its the internet, its just about the appreciation that people have, for example, i used IPB 1.3 before my 2.3.5, and i loved it! Hell, i was more then satisfied, and then i just did a small google search, found IPB 2.3.5 retail version, blah blah blah, download now, over 50 links, did i download it? Yea, sure i did, i looked it at, didnt install it yet, and then, went, alright, les go buy it, did i do something illegal there? Probably, by downloading it, but hell, i love IPB and i dont have a problem paying them 149$ for their amazing software, by all means, if it were up to me on that so called illegal IPB, i wouldnt care that much. ;) (just my opinion)
August 2, 200816 yr Because its unlikely they can afford it... I'll let IPS deal with it.. Yeah, like that's an excuse for very possibly slandering someone in public... you're just as bad as people who pirate software if you ask me, going around without any real reason and making accusations against people that are probably completely untrue... you're a real hypocrite if you ask me.
August 2, 200816 yr I bought my IPB license when I was 12. Now I am 14. So I resent the fact that "because they are about 13 years old" use nulled boards.
