Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted May 14, 200816 yr I just got this idea as I realized polls are allowed in this forum. (duh) If all these topics had polls, I am sure this would be helpful to IPS to see what people really need and want. (Highest priorities).1. So why not add a feature on the new 3.0 to automatically add a poll to certain forums. Add this feature (CHOICE) when creating a new forum in admin CP. When someone posts in this forum they would have to add a poll or get an error message like the following."This is a poll focused forum. Please fill out your poll to complete your topic" 2. This would also be great for moderators. They could close topics with polls that are similiar and close the topic and redirect to the poll that already exists.Example: This poll already exists. please click here to view. This topic is closed :) I think this would streamline information and input that would benefit everyone and very simple. Keeping it simple! Think about this? If this feature was available right now and IPS had this turned on, there would be fewer topics, and better input on priorities.
May 14, 200816 yr Seriously I don't think its a good idea. First off this isn't just a suggestion forum its a feedback forum which means this is the place where people tell IPB about their product and service as well as suggest new features for future releases. Also, if you want a Poll Only forum then make a forum tell the users they can only post polls in there and close/delete those that do not follow your rules. I would find this modification of the software pointless and unusable. I can hardly imagine a reason to have a poll only forum, ever.
May 18, 200816 yr If all these topics had polls, I am sure this would be helpful to IPS to see what people really need and want. (Highest priorities). I have noticed a few more polls now being started. I do believe this would show the developers what people really need versus what is maybe not really a priority. You could even preset the polls automatically to say: Agee? Yes No Maybe
May 18, 200816 yr Yes but you still do not acknowledge the fact that this is a Feedback forum so to have Every single thing be a poll would be pointless. Posts that say "I love IPB's customer service" having a Poll with "Yes, No, Maybe or undecided" would be absolutely ridiculous. I think you should ask for someone to mod this for you because I don't see how this being a default feature would have any legitimate use except for to a few people.

Look at thee top of this forumHave a suggestion or feedback? Democracy I love it :) Everyone can give their point of view
May 19, 200816 yr Ummm wouldn't it be more clever to just ask for a poll section that displays/lists all active and inactive polls on the board? That way you could just click that poll listing from the list and it will point you to the topic to check out the topic, vote if you wish and post your comment if want and leave? I hardly find a poll only forum very practical. It pretty much is saying this is the only forum you allow polls in which you can do that now with IP.Board. Sounds more like ballots (Pure anonymous voting) :P EDIT: Or just add a search feature for forums/topics with polls in them to the advanced search feature yes?
May 19, 200816 yr I am not saying you can't suggest it but you suggested that it would be good to make this forum have that feature and mentioned how it would "help" this forum for IPB I was trying to explain that this sort of feature would not be helpful here. I agree with the suggestions China J said about it. I think it would be better as a feature to display active polls or n easy search feature for polls, I think that would be easier and more widely used.
