Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted May 6, 200816 yr A few people said they liked this in the topic that really wasn't about it so I figured I'd extract the post and re-post it in its own thread for a suggestion for 3.0. I think that there should be a Neutral warning thing so that it doesn't change the users warning level but it logs/sends a PM when the person needs a reminder or didn't realize they were breaking a rule. Its hard to keep track of repeat offenders without giving them a verbal warning and then for repeat offenses actual warning increases without having something that is easily trackable. Something I'm adding to this suggestion: I might also want to suggest "warning categories"? I suggest this because I don't want to warn a member for breaking two different rules on accident (I have a lot so they are relatively easy to forget) so I think there should be a way to enable a category for warning like (for my site) "Improper linking to base", "Posting in wrong forum", "Stolen Artwork", etc. Then if I find that they often forget to link their bases then it will be easier to warn that member for continuous rule breaking of the same rule. I think this would also help to have the RAP sheet that someone suggested in the other thread and be able to setup permissions to view the RAP sheet so that you can set up certain members to be able to verify repeat offenses. So my suggestions without all the mumbo jumbo: Neutral Warning Warning Categories RAP Sheet
May 6, 200816 yr I'm not a huge fan of Warn Categories I never used them and find them annoying at times staff notes for a warn works just fine.
May 6, 200816 yr Thats why I suggest the option to add categories or not, I would prefer to have a default ability to show categories as it would make my life easier because I have a lot of different things a member can botch up on. I also don't think its necessary to have the need for a mod for a neutral warning.
May 7, 200816 yr Also the ability to add and view member notes from the profile or something, maybe topic view too if you click the warn link. The feature is pointless in the ACP, because its only for you or staff that have access. It would be nice if it was built into this global moderator / staff center you are talking about.

The feature exists but should be more obvious - click the number next to the warning blocks.
May 8, 200816 yr The feature exists but should be more obvious - click the number next to the warning blocks. But isn't that number just for viewing previous warn actions done through the warning system? Where as if I add a note for someone in the ACP I don't think it appears there? Maybe I'm wrong. But you can't add a "note" or something directly in that box either.
May 12, 200816 yr I aggree a global staff/modarator 'report card' on trouble posters would be a good idea. As to that end in another post I made, your acp for admin is all er none and would be a good feture to have. far as public posts well in that case I don't think that is necessary there is the warn sys and shows the # of warns but most things like that posts are deleated. so no way to know as to the offinces.
May 12, 200816 yr I know a few sites that would benefit from Warning categories. I like the idea lot. I also like neutral warning levels.
May 12, 200816 yr Right now we have a custom profile field called "Notes" with a javascript-modification I rigged up to add pre-defined "notes" along with the date and moderator's name ("neutral warnings") to the account - only visible by moderators. But I like the idea of neutral warnings.
May 20, 200816 yr +1 for Neutral Warning. Or better said - Verbal Warning, with option to give +20% auto-warning after 2 consecutive verbal warnings.
