Brett B
Hello, I'd like to request improvements in an area where IPB has been lacking - statistics. IPB is an INCREDIBLE software, don't get me wrong, but I'd definitely like to see improvements with regard to statistics. This is the SMF stats center, which was probably the only good part about SMF: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/in...hp?action=stats. I hope to see some improvements in the form of statistics in IPB 3.0. Thanks guys, and keep up the fantastic work!
Vince G.
Wouldn't it better to be as a modification? I mean showing that amount of data would require lots of DB queries. And there are plenty of mods that do just that.
alj
I'd like to see this in IPB3.0 for sure

I think that it would better serve as an option in IPB that can be enabled or disabled (Maybe choice between Simple or Advanced Stats system or something like that). yarik_h
not necessary.. will slow down the forum. there is already modification like that.
.om
This is best left as a modification IMO.
Mark
Some of this functionality is in the ACP, I personally support the OP and think that these stats should be (perhaps at the discretion of the admin) made available on the front-end. I don't think anyone is suggesting it would be a good idea to display this in replace of the stats centre that displays on the board index (to use SMF as the example, it takes up 17 more queries than the board index, and also would look quite ugly on the board index) but I think it should be done in the manner SMF has done it (on a seperate page, thus removing the various pages we have for top 10 posters, etc.)

But perhaps include a link in the board stats section on the homepage to "More stats" or something, and point it to a more comprehensive stats page. Of course, this could be enabled or disabled in the ACP.
Renita
Some people seem to forget that not everyone is "into" modifications, installing modificaitons or even has the knowledge and the skill to install and maintain modifications. I would love advanced stats in my ACP, specially if I can turn it to lite or advanced setting. The problem with a modification is that it has to be upgraded as well the moment you update your board, so am all a fan of having less mods and more options build in. Bulky ftw. markymids
I'd love to see this too - surely the stats could be cached so as to minimise impact on the DB?
Mark
I'd love to see this too - surely the stats could be cached so as to minimise impact on the DB? In a way, yes they could (store the actual stats seperatly and have a task update them). But in a specific stats page it wouldn't be *too* much load anyway... I had suggested something similar in another topic, and I'm hoping this is considered in future releases. I just hope it doesn't slow the site down any. Twisted Gamer
Personally I want as many stats built in to the ACP as possible. I could care less on the front end. Having one place to go instead of having to use a third party site even for basic stats.
Brett B
Personally I want as many stats built in to the ACP as possible. I could care less on the front end. Having one place to go instead of having to use a third party site even for basic stats. That's ok, too. Just having some of this information located within IPB to begin with would be a plus, regardless of whether it is located within the ACP or displayed on the front-end. It would be nice if IPB 3 would provide similar statistics to that of the link in the OP.

I'd love to see IPB include that within the software by default or as an option to turn it on/off.
Hennet
for me thats a waste of queries & space, who would look at that...This is best left as a modification
W13
Have it as a feature, but allow for it to be cached once every x hours. so the processing and the db queries happen very rarely.
