bfarber
Is there any reason you decided to add new features - I don't think I've ever seen that before in a point release - or was it just a whim? Mostly performance reasons, but we realized while working on 2.3.5 that it would likely be released quite a while after 2.3.4 (mostly because 2.3.4 was stable enough to sit for a while, and we had other things we were working on simultaneously) so we wanted to throw a couple of small features in for bigger sites.About Me is pretty good. Now I can get rid of a signature mod I was using. Nice. I also like that it goes to that by default instead of topics. by the way, is having the about me as default the reason profiles are loading faster? I am guessing this will be released when blog is considered bug-free enough to release along with it? Would gallery also havea new release or has it been too short of a time since the last one? I always thought it was nice when everything would release simultaneously. Yes, this is largely the reason profiles load faster. We are not timing the releases specifically. Honestly I would expect 2.3.5 to be released as a final release before Blog to be honest, but I can't predict the future. Gallery most likely, at this point, won't have another release for a while. There aren't many (reproducable ;) ) bugs right now, so I'll likely focus on the next big release. Thanks to the complaining from Speed Racer. Actually, the about me tab was done long before he posted his topic. Though I DID take his suggestion and add the same concept to the topics and posts tabs in the profile.I kinda miss the times when my community caused emergency security fixes. It's been like some months since last time it happened. If there is one thing that I am unsatisfied about, it's the formating engine for posts. It's a mess. I agree, our bbcode libraries are due for a major overhaul. Because of how big a deal this is, however, it's waiting for 3.0.

Yeah, and this time, I hope that the code stays in the single class this time. In this version, it's uhm, not so properly done, little copy pasted snippets of code here and there. But I have to say, the theoretical design of the API was sound. It just wasn't properly implemented. Try it again, I liked it a lot, made my work very easy (well, in theory). This is completly not talking about the actual formating engine algorithms. I think I've said enough of them, but for the first time viewers here is a quick summary: slowly mutated and hacked together string substitutions where one fix breaks another part. Definitely due for a major overhaul.

Mark
They are part of other database drivers that can be purchased separately ;)
bfarber
What is this? If you don't have load-balanced webservers it's irrelevant. :) For those that do, it's hard to manage uploads in a load-balanced environment in IPB. Obviously you'd need uploaded files to be on both webservers (otherwise users would randomly get 404 errors trying to download files). This is a new setting that allows you to force the form action on upload forms (i.e. uploading attachments, or avatars, or personal pictures) to point to a specific url (for instance, your "master" web server). From there you could use a tool like rsync to copy the uploaded file over to your other web servers. Just a small "feature" to make it easier to support uploads when you use a load-balanced webserver setup.in upgrade pack, there aren't these files... Right, because they're for other database drivers which you must purchase and download separately. :) The updated files are included in the separate driver downloads. FrostedPopTart
Dear Brandon, Please fix the post from yesterday to include all the bugs back to approx. end of page 6 in the IPB fixed bugs tracker section, as many are missing from the list in the announcement. Thanks.
The Old Man
There are very few "features". There is the new about me page (and the ability for admins to edit a member's about me page from the ACP). There's a setting to force uploads to a specific server (this is useful for those who have load-balanced web servers - you can then use rsync to replicate the files properly). "View My Blog" and "View My Albums" links in the member name dropdowns (topic view, announcements, pm's, memberlist and calendar events). Bug fixes marked for 2.3.5 from bug tracker. This will be more clearly identified with the release announcement once ready. I just upgraded to v2.3.5 as of May 1st (with reference to the repackaged upgrade message) and whilst the new About Me page is visible in my profiles, I don't see the new "View My Blog" and "View my Albums" links anywhere on my site in the places mentioned. The upgrader script rebuilt all my skin templates and I have just tried doing it again myself, manually using all the skin rebuild tools available. My AdminCP skins page shows these errors which I've been told to ignore before now, I don't know what they mean but I ran all the tools: Is it down to these errors or is it a bug in the upgrader? bfarber
@The Old Man, we have an open bug report with reports that the Pro skin templates are not updating in the upgrade. If the links show in your classic blue skin, but not the pro skin, that is most likely the issue. Support will be able to tell for sure.
Alex
Dear Brandon, Please fix the post from yesterday to include all the bugs back to approx. end of page 6 in the IPB fixed bugs tracker section, as many are missing from the list in the announcement. Thanks. There is one simple reason for that, as you can see, all the 'Fixed In' row column is blank, due to that feature coming to IP.Tracker halfway between 2.3.4 and 2.3.5. The list is automatically generated for any bugs that have the fixed in field with a value. So it only looks for reports with 2.3.5 as fixed in. If that made sense.
