How to EASILY Ban someone?

Ok, maybe I've overlooked it (though I've read Admin Doc cover to cover), but HOW do you ban someone without having to open up half a dozen screens to accomplish it?!?!?!

For god's sake, IPB 1.3.1 had that feature, and it's as old as dirt!

It was a button in the ACP, that lets you ban by IP, Name, or email.

IPS, you have a wonderful product, but HOW could you have left off this feature? *sigh*

A "Ban Button" is needed badly.

OR, if some can point out a mod for 2.3.4 that does the SAME thing, that'd be fine too.

Either way....

HELP!

But it would be so much easier and quicker if all we had to do was click on the name which brings out the drop down box, and have a clickable Ban setting. Click it, add length of ban, add IP and/or email address to ban filters, and add to banned user group.

Banning permanatley is bad. My ip changes every day and gets handed off to someone else.
but we need a quick button for guests and members. I leave my board open to guest posting so I constantly have to delete porn and viagra threads.

I personally don't whant it, because you can banip someone only from the ACP, its a security measure I think

i don't want because maybe on my board I have 2-3 admins, but they don't have permission to ACP and therefore banip...

I think it is better to have a tool for admins ban some one and delete there posts in the board pages and not in the ACP pages. Because login the ACP and search a member is so hard. If there are so many members post ADs ,it will be hard to ban them and delete there posts in the ACP.

I agree, what I'd really like to see is a BAN button attached either directly to a post or on the user-drop down while viewing a post. This would make it much faster to ban someone when they are on a posting rampage, which sometimes happens with spammers. Going through the warning dialog is a bit cumbersome, and of course going all the way into the ACP is even more time consuming. I'd also love to see a "Ban and Remove All Posts" attached to the user-drop down (with a confirmation, of course). The impact of a rogue troll or spammer could quickly be neutralized in such fashion.

Thats nice, except its a paid mod and your kinda advertising haha.

I think the feature where you can have the checks to ban IP, e-mail, username, are good too easily updates all in one. And by default we should have exporter / import features on the ban filters for words + ban, you have to make mod edits for them to work.

If you all want to use it now I can go ahead and release it, just keep in mind that there probably will be an update for it when IPB 3.0 comes out. I will go ahead and add it to the resources, of course someone will have to approve it before it can be downloaded here.
